Career
After completing his course in London, Jawed was appointed by Sunsilk, where he worked for nine years. He returned to India in 1989 to become a spokesperson for hairdressing. He started organizing workshops and seminars. He opened a small unit in a remote place in India and taught a few students. That’s how he was able to open his chain of salons in India. Not long after, she began writing books on hairstyles and hair care. He has more than 790 branches in 24 states and more than 41 academies in India. He also has a franchise from India.
Controversy
- He once caused controversy by printing advertisements that seemed to undermine the sentiments of the Hindu community. The ad has a god visiting Jawed Habib’s salon with the slogan “Gods Too Visit JH Salon.”

- In January 2022, during a training seminar in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, the celebrity hairstylist spat on a woman’s hair, jokingly saying that even his spit worked. Not long after, the video of this incident went viral on social media following which he received great criticism. The woman in the video, identified as Pooja Gupta, runs a beauty salon called Vanshika in Baraut, and she also criticized Habib for his actions. He said,
My name is Pooja Gupta, I run a salon called Vanshika beauty salon and I am a resident of Baraut. I attended Mr. Javed Habib’s seminar yesterday. He invited me for a haircut on stage and he made a lot of mistakes. He points out that if you don’t have water, you can use your spit as well. I don’t cut my hair. I will get my hair cut from any local shop but never from Javed Habib.”
