Jay-Z Makes His Return To Instagram After Almost Two Years, Here’s Why!

Jay-Z’s social media presence continues to give off a “never tell them your next move” vibe!

The Hip-hop superstar needs no introduction, given his status as the GOAT in the entertainment industry. Despite having little to no interaction with fans on platforms like Instagram, the 53-year-old’s influence has not dimmed.

Almost two years after deactivating his account on the popular media sharing site, the “Empire State Of Mind” hitmaker recently returned to the Meta-owned venture. Ironically, the 24-time Grammy winner’s comeback is for the same reason she joined the social media platform in 2021.

Jay-Z Relaunches His Instagram Account To Promote Upcoming Movie ‘The Book of Clarence’

Fans of The Roc Nation founder had double reason to celebrate on Tuesday, August 29, as the entertainment mogul returned to Instagram with a trailer for his upcoming Biblical masterpiece, “The Book of Clarence.”

The father of three debuted the bombshell teaser on his page, marking the “No Church in the Wild” rapper’s first post since he shut down his social media page in 2021. Just like his comeback, the media personality has joined Instagram to promote the Netflix movie he co-published, “The Harder They Fall.”

As with his first project, Jay-Z is one of the producers of the upcoming film, “The Book of Clarence.” The 3-time AMA winner teamed up with sensational filmmaker Jeymes Samuel, the creative mind behind “THTF,” to make the 2024 film.

In the trailer for the Bible story, the opening monologue begins with Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield revealing himself as the main character. “I’m Clarence. I am not a man without faults. I played the cards I was dealt,” said the sensational actor as the screen flashed with scenes from the Jerusalem-focused film.

The trailer shows Clarence envious of Jesus receiving admiration from his followers. When his friend (played by RJ Cyler) states that he wants to be like the messiah in the future, Stanfield’s character states that he wants to “be like that now.”

Armed with his newfound determination for power, the clip continues to show Clarence’s journey to wealth and fame as God’s messenger. In one scene, he hatches a devious plan with Cyler’s character to create a fake miracle and begin reaping the rewards of posing as a messiah.

However, the video’s closing scene shows that Clarence’s new status puts him in the sights of the Roman empire, and their representatives attempt to publicly unmask him. The teaser features some familiar faces, including Omar Sy, David Oyelowo, Teyana Taylor, James McAvoy, Anna Diop and Alfre Woodard.

The clip also promises new music from Jay-Z, Samuel and more artists. “Clarence’s book. January 2024,” the Hip-hop star captioned the post. Naturally, fans were surprised by the 53-year-old’s subtle return to Instagram and begged the record producer to stay.

“The goats are back,” someone cheered while others pleaded, “Stay a little longer this time.” A third person expressed excitement for the entertainer’s return, writing: “Welcome back.” However, some suspect the BRIT Award winner may be pulling another missing act.

“Ahh this old nigga finna deleted his shine in 2 days just watching,” claimed one fan. “You’re back for good, or you’re going to delete in 24 hours like last time,” another wondered. One incredulous at Jay-Z’s social media presence declared: “Every time you do this, I follow you and act surprised when you disappear again.”

As of this writing, the “Empire State Of Mind” rapper has 39.8K followers and only follows one person — none other than his wife Beyoncé.

The 40/40 Club Founder Deactivated His Instagram Shortly After Joining The Platform

As mentioned above, the “Forever Young” hitmaker first became an IG member in 2021 before shutting down his account during a nearly two-year hiatus. The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder created his official page to promote his Western film, “The Harder They Fall.”

The father-of-three shared the poster for the Netflix film, which has garnered more than half a million likes, as fans and celebrities commemorated his debut on the media-sharing platform. Additionally, the 53-year-old broke a unique record by becoming the first person his wife, Beyoncé, ever followed.

A-listers such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Tracy Anderson, and Drew Barrymore, among others, gave a warm welcome to the Hip-hop billionaire. However, their love is not enough to make the entrepreneur’s residence permanent.

A day after appearing on Instagram, the “Excuse Me Miss” rapper deactivated his account without warning. Following his sudden disappearance, fans debated the reasons behind Jay-Z’s social media withdrawal.
