MacKenzie Scott says goodbye to another marriage! Scott is known as a philanthropist, and the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos recently filed for divorce from her second husband.
As you probably know, Scott and Bezos separated in a controversial divorce after 26 years of marriage, and she found love again in the arms of schoolteacher Dan Jewett, but it seems the second time around isn’t the charm.
MacKenzie Scott Divorced For The Second Time!
According to The New York Times, Scott filed for divorce from Jewett less than two years after they were married. The philanthropist, who is among the ten richest women, filed the petition on Monday in King County Superior Court in Washington State.
Court documents obtained show that Scott requested that any property division be set out in a separate contract. Jewett agreed to the agreement and also did not contest the divorce, meaning their divorce proceedings will likely go smoothly.
The novelist, who owns a 4% stake in Amazon, walked down the aisle with Jewett in 2021, about a year after her divorce from the famous entrepreneur was finalized. They married in March 2021, with the former high school chemistry teacher sharing the announcement in a joint Giving Pledge letter published on Scott’s Medium account.
“I married one of the most generous and kind people I know – and joined him in a commitment to bequeath great financial wealth to serve others,” Jewett wrote. “I look forward to the growth and learning I have ahead of me as part of this endeavor with MacKenzie.”
Indeed, Scott and the former educator, who taught at Seattle Private School Lakeside School, fulfilled their pledge to pass on their wealth. The philanthropist has given away more than $12 billion of the $62 billion he earned as part of the divorce.
Are There Doomsday Signs With Couples?
Scott and Jewett work together to give away billions of dollars to worthy causes, even continuing their pledge last month when two $55 million properties were donated to the California Community Foundation as part of their affordable housing project.
However, it was reported that in recent donations, Scott was the only name listed as a donor. Previously, the organization thanked Scott and Jewett, but that is no longer the case.
Pledge to Give
Also raising eyebrows is the absence of his pledge on the Giving Pledge website. According to last week’s publication, a version of Jewett’s pledge and a photo of her and Scott were attached to the website. However, now, only the 52-year-old’s photo and statement remain on the website.
A friend of Jewett told the New York Times that she and Scott seemed like a perfect match because he wasn’t one to be preoccupied with amassing wealth. “He’s the perfect person to give this money to – there’s no greed at all,” the source said.
Unfortunately, it seems that is not enough to keep their love alive.
Bezos Still Going Strong With Lover Lauren Sanchez
While Scott’s second attempt at love didn’t end well, the opposite seems to be the case for her ex-husband Bezos. The former Amazon CEO is going strong with his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez, who he went public with shortly after breaking up with Scott.
The lovebirds made headlines in November after the billionaire joked with actor Leonardo DiCaprio about marking his territory. During an appearance at the star-studded Art Gala in Los Angeles, the former TV host was spotted making out with the “Titanic” actress, and her boyfriend was none too pleased.

In a tweet after the meeting, Bezos shared a photo of himself shirtless, standing next to a warning that read, “Danger! A steep cliff, a deadly fall.” She captioned the photo with a warning to DiCaprio, writing, “Leo, come here, I want to show you something…”
The viral moment in no way affected the couple who were seen just last week having a matching moment at a party hosted by Anna Wintour, according to People Magazine.
