Jeff Norman Obituary– Jeff Norman was the visual assistant for the Clemson Tiger Band. He died suddenly. Norman is survived by his wife, Donna Norman. Thousands of people have flocked to Facebook to express their admiration and love for the brilliant band director. Such is the effect Jeff Norman has on his neighborhood.

In their tribute, many of Jeff’s students refer to him as their bonus/second father. Jeff, a two-time WYFF4 Golden Apple Teach Award winner, has worked at various colleges. Greer High School is sending tributes to their Band Director, who passed away on December 17th. Jeff is no longer with us, but his impact and influence lives on through those he touched.

Jeff Norman works as a visual assistant with the Clemson Tigers. Norman celebrated his birthday last month, on November 25, and even attended a Tiger game the next day. Last week, on December 11, Jeff announced on Facebook that he underwent jaw surgery. Norman said he underwent surgery to treat his sleeping condition and improve his quality of life.

He said that the recovery period is six to twelve weeks and that he will follow a strict liquid diet for a week. Jeff also hopes to eat mashed potatoes and other similar foods by week three. The Tigers quarterback also expressed his sadness at not being able to attend the Tigers Bowl game but noted that it was the right time to have his surgery.

On December 12, he posted an update about him and his bestie, Donna, heading to the hospital. Donna and Norman married on January 30, 1999, and Donna has supported him through thick and thin. Jeff’s family has not commented on his death, but the Clemson Tigers tight end most likely died of complications from surgery. Donna hasn’t posted anything on Facebook since before Clemson’s game against South Carolina.

Friends honor Jeff Norman’s legacy

Since Jeff’s death, several of his friends have posted tributes to him on social media. Akeem Downs, one of Jeff’s closest friends, stated, “Today, I am speechless.” Jeff Norman is more than a friend; he is a mentor and someone I look up to!” He went on to write, “Not many band directors look like me, so he’s a superhero in my eyes. We always laugh and act silly during the winter guard show. “He was so helpful during my first year of teaching!”

Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in music teaching from Northeast Louisiana University and is the drum major in the popular “Sound of Today” Marching Band. He later worked as a music instructor in South Carolina and received a master’s degree in music from Radford University in Radford, Virginia.

Jeff previously worked at Wren High and Middle School. His marching band has been performed by high school bands from South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Louisiana. Norman works as the band director at Greer High School and is a member of the South Carolina Band Directors Association.
