Pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 500 times when questioned in 2016 about his role in running a sex-trafficking ring — refusing to answer questions as simple as whether he knew Ghislaine Maxwell, where she lived or her cell phone number, court papers released Tuesday revealed.
Epstein invoked his right not to incriminate himself repeatedly during a deposition on September 9, 2016, conducted in Epstein’s Palm Beach, Florida, office — dodging questions about whether he lured minors to his mansion for sex and about Maxwell’s role in the scheme.
“I have been advised by my attorney to assert my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution on any and all questions that may result in a waiver of my constitutional privilege,” Epstein snorted at the start of the proceedings in question. from a lawyer for Virginia Giuffre, one of his accusers.
Epstein did answer “Jeffrey Edward Epstein” when asked for his full name, but refused to answer any other questions.
At one point in the Q&A, Epstein was asked, “Where do you live now?” and “You know the Defendant in this case, Ghislaine Maxwell, correct?”

Epstein answered “Fifth” both times – even though numerous photographs that have been unearthed at the time show him and Maxwell together.
He was also asked if Maxwell “knew that your preference was to start the massage with sex.”
“Fifth,” he replied.
Deposition documents show Epstein pleaded with the Fifth repeatedly.
Epstein also answered “Five” when asked what his cell phone number was and how many cell phones he had at the time.
A partial transcript of the deposition was first released in August 2019.
The file is the latest to be released in a batch of documents related to sex offenders that have been released over the past week after a judge ordered them to be released.
On Monday, a cache of photos was released showing girls and young women frolicking on Epstein’s private Caribbean island, Little St. James, where the pedophile is accused of sexually abusing her.

Both Epstein and Maxwell, along with friends such as Jean-Luc Brunel – the famous fashion scout who Giuffre claims he was forced to have sex with – were seen partying on the island in the pictures.
The shots were fired by accuser Sarah Ransome, who said in court documents that the women brought to the island were supplied with Victoria’s Secret lingerie and bikinis that they had to wear.
While there, they allegedly took turns sexually attending to Epstein, Ransome alleged in a deposition.
“We were called, like, round trips for Jeffrey all day and evening,” Ransome said. “I’m done, another girl was called by Ghislaine. And when they finished, another girl was called.”
