The college football coach has been his wife’s favorite since he was arrested by authorities and charged with wire fraud among various other charges. In an effort to help Jen receive a lighter sentence, he wrote a letter to the judge vouching for his wife’s “genuine remorse” for her role in the situation.

“Jen has never been arrested or detained for any crime. My wife’s current legal problems are due to a confluence of events that came together at various points, which caused her to spiral out of control,” he claimed.

Coach Shah went on to share that personal experiences pushed Jen to act out of character.

The coach explained that the strain on their relationship at the time caused Jen to “make bad business decisions and build relationships with bad people.” Coach Shah also explained that he blames himself more for Jen’s actions than she does.

“Due to my absence, I could not see how bad my wife was suffering. As I think about it now, I see him spending more and more time in our bedroom alone. He often falls asleep outside the children’s bed waiting for me to come home. He always told me that he felt very alone.”

The reality star also claimed that during his act of fraud and engaging in telemarketing scams, He was triggered by several deaths that had occurred in the family he claimed to have lost his father, grandmother and grandfather.

Coach Shah believes that his wife has taken a big step in admitting that she was wrong. He recalled that it was in July that Jen “took the first big step in making things right by admitting her own guilt and accountability.”

Coach Shah took this leap a week after Jen appealed to the judge to reduce the sentence to just three years in jail.

Attorney Gen Priya Chaudhry wrote in sentencing submissions to the judge that read, “We argue that such a sentence is fair and just because it takes into account the history and characteristics of Ms. Shah, the facts and circumstances of the offense, and satisfies that a court imposed a sentence that ‘was not greater than necessary’ to achieve the goal of punishment.”

They also shared that keeping this case alive has caused “embarrassment, fear and embarrassment” for Coach Shah and their two sons, Sharrieff Shah Jr., 28, and Omar, 19.
