Hollywood writer and producer Steven DeKnight has slammed Jenna Ortega for her criticism of the writer of the hit Netflix series, “Wednesday.”
He slammed the actor in a series of tweets, saying that his negative comments about the writer’s work were “out of line and toxic.” The writer also pointed out that he would feel hurt if the show’s actors criticized his acting ability in public.

Taking to Twitter DeKnight slammed Ortega’s comments about not being satisfied with the writer’s work during his appearance on a recent episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast.
The actor was very critical of his “Wednesday” character, claiming on the show that many of his lines didn’t make sense to him and he changed a few at one point.
DeKnight, who has scripted several hit series including, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” and “Smallville” felt that Ortega’s comments were “out of line and toxic” even though he has been a fan of her work.
“I love talking to actors about their lines/stories,” the “Daredevil” writer. tweeted. “But based on the nature of the beast, they don’t have a full picture of where the story is going and why some lines are needed for the whole thing to make sense.”
Although DeKnight also said that Ortega is “young” and probably doesn’t “know better,” he insists that he would be hurt if the show’s cast criticized his ability to act in public.
The writer said, “He should also ask himself how he would feel if a contestant gave an interview and talked about how difficult he was and refused to do the material.”

He said he changed the script because he was worried it would be ‘boring’ and wouldn’t resonate with audiences, especially by making his character more likable.
“You can’t carry a story and have no emotion because it’s boring and nobody likes you,” said the actor, “When you’re a kid and you say really horrible, offensive things, it’s funny and endearing. But then you become a teenagers, and it’s bad, and you know it. No excuses.”
