Jennette McCurdy recently visited Australia for a “once in a lifetime moment.”
The actress-turned-author spoke at the All About Women 2023 festival last weekend and shared why the tour and experience were so “unforgettable” for her in an Instagram post.

McCurdy, who spoke at the festival about her book, “I’m Glad My Mother Died,” took to Instagram to share a carousel of photos from the day and explain why this trip to Australia was so impactful for her.
“Speaking at the Sydney Opera House was unforgettable!! Years ago, I hit what I consider my ‘rock bottom’ in Australia, in the back seat of an Uber, looking at the Sydney Opera House from afar, down and high in hope, just cleaning my Tim Tams,” he wrote. “I’m at a place where I don’t really believe things can get better, but know that if there’s any chance of that happening, of things changing, I have to start by changing the only thing I have control over. : myself.”
Now several years later, he finds himself back in Australia but with a very different atmosphere. “Having returned to Australia, now, many years later, in completely different circumstances – to a career that I’m proud of and, more importantly, as a person, I’m proud of – and to connect with the audience in a real and meaningful way. way (IN THE OWN F***ING SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE!!) was a once in a lifetime moment for me.”

The “iCarly” actress ended her caption by thanking the Sydney Opera House for bringing her there, and writer Rosie Waterland for “having a very nuanced and insightful conversation with grace and humor and everything in between,” as well as the audience at the show.
“After that, I celebrated with a half-sleeve of Tim Tams, all of which still hadn’t been cleaned,” he said. “PS, yes my travel aesthetic is ‘full tourist.’”
“I’m Glad My Mother Died” Still On The Bestseller List 29 Weeks After Release

McCurdy recently shared the news that his book is still strong on the bestseller list 29 weeks after its release. She shared a photo on Instagram of Indie Hardcover Fiction Bestsellers for the week of March 1, 2023, showing that “I’m Glad My Mom Died” is at the top of the list.
“29 weeks after release and you have once again made IGMMD the #1 non-fiction book in the country on the indie bookstore bestseller list,” she captioned the photo. “Thank you all for telling friends, cousins and mothers (?) to read the book. There’s nothing like the power of word of mouth and that’s all you guys are, so thank you.”
The author also shared a photo in late December showing all the places the book was included for the best of 2022. Some of those places include Glamour, Amazon, Audible, Barnes & Noble and Goodreads.
In December, the book was also on the New York Times Hardcover Bestseller list at number two. He captioned a photo of the list, “Thank you so much for keeping IGMMD on the New York Times Bestseller list for TWENTY consecutive weeks. I never imagined the book would have such an impact. To know that millions (!!) of you have taken the time to read it and connect with it so closely… wow. I am very grateful.”
