Jennifer Aniston Breaks Silence On Norman Lear’s Death: ‘An Extraordinary Life’

Hollywood continues to honor the life and legacy of the legendary Norman Lear and actress Jennifer Aniston is the latest to share a heartfelt tribute to the icon.

Lear died on Tuesday at the prime age of 101 after a long and successful career that saw him create more than 100 shows. Aniston was one of the main stars celebrating the late screenwriter for his 100th birthday in the ABC special “Norman Lear: 100 Years of Music and Laughter.”

The “Friends” actress took to her Instagram to pay tribute to the “All In the Family” creator, sharing two heartwarming photos while doting on the late ten-year-old. In one frame they are hugging tightly and in the second he is staring at her lovingly while putting his hands on her face.

“Norman Lear. ? His show shaped my childhood and knowing him is one of my greatest honors. He made such a difference,” he began his heart-felt speech.

Aniston continued, “Huge impact on television and humanity. He was able to address and discuss heated political conversations during difficult and challenging times and we were able to laugh and learn. I miss those days. When creativity was a learning tool and could inspire people to think differently. And of course to laugh. Our greatest source of healing.”

She later described the “One Day At A Time” producer as “the kindest, gentlest guy,” recalling how he made her feel like she was the only one in the room when he was in her presence. “He made everyone feel this. Even if someone believes differently than he does,” Aniston wrote about Lear.

Concluding the tearful tribute, Aniston concluded, “He knew how to give voice to all sides and somehow in the process bring people together. Let’s take a page from Norman’s playbook as a way of honoring his life. What an incredible life .”

He added, “Rest in peace Norman. It is a gift to stand in your light. ?️❤️.”

Fans wasted no time cheering on Aniston in the comments section. His tribute to Lear comes just a month after he lost his close friend and “Friends” co-star Matthew Perry. One fan wrote, “D–n. Facing these losses back to back is crazy. I can’t imagine,” while another wrote, “I’m so sorry she has to go through this loss.”

Carol Burnett Remembers Norman Lear’s ‘Friend’

Actress Carol Burnett also joined Aniston and others to pay tribute to the late Lear. Alongside a photo of him presenting the Carol Burnett Award to the late filmmaker at the Golden Globes in 2021, the iconic comedian wrote:

“I’m sorry that I never got to work with him, but I will always be grateful that I knew him as a friend. ?

Lear helped change the landscape of American comedy by introducing political and social themes to sitcoms. His family confirmed his death in a statement that read, “Thank you for the heartwarming outpouring of love and support in honor of our great husband, father, and grandfather. Norman lived a life of creativity, perseverance, and empathy.”

The statement continued, “He loved our country dearly and spent a lifetime helping to uphold the basic ideals of justice and equality for all. Knowing and loving him is the greatest gift. We ask for your understanding as we mourn personally in celebration of this extraordinary man.”

According to Lear’s publicist, the TV legend died at his home in Los Angeles of natural causes. He left behind six children and many grandchildren.
