In a recent interview with British GQ, Jennifer Coolidge opens up about her decision not to start a family. Coolidge admitted that his immaturity played an important role in this choice.

The 61-year-old actress, who is enjoying a career resurgence thanks to her role as Max in “The White Lotus,” admits that although her friends have encouraged her to consider adoption, she believes she would make a better stepmother. She attributed her decision to her desire to maintain a youthful spirit, admitting that having children would require her to “grow up”.

Coolidge openly shared with the publication, per Daily Mail, “I was very, very immature, I think that prevented me from having children because I was like a child. Maybe if I had children, I would have to be an adult. Maybe if I had children, I would have grown up.”

However, Coolidge revealed in his interview that he was initially hesitant to accept the role due to mental health reasons. He candidly admitted, “I was, like, not in the mood. [Was it fear of failure – or possibly success?] I was depressed, I was very depressed.”

Reflecting on her character’s fate in the show’s second season, Coolidge shared her thoughts on how her own “fantasy” may have played a role in Tanya’s death.

He explained, per Daily Mail, “I had encouraged Mike to tell the story of Italy, I said I wanted to be in Italy or something, riding a Vespa with all these guys reaching out and trying to light my cigarette. That’s my fantasy. But I think that suggestion killed me.”

During a recent interview with Jeremy Allen White as part of Diversity Actor in the Actors series, Coolidge opens up about his career and reflects on what he considered a “fatal flaw” during his early success in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

When asked if he had any long-term plans for his acting career, Coolidge bluntly admitted that he did not. He shared that when he looked back on his life and the mistakes he made, he realized that he did not have a strategic approach. Instead, he just goes “work to work.”

Coolidge admitted to an important mistake during the 90s when he had a successful movie saying, “I have to say that I made a big mistake by not riding the wave that I had from the beginning. It was kind of in the ’90s when I had ‘Legally Blonde,’ ‘Best in Show’ and ‘American Pie.’ And then there’s ‘Cinderella Story’ and so on.

“But there was a moment. There was a wave that I could ride but I was really distracted,” Coolidge added.

As she revealed, the distraction was her focus on “chasing men.”

“I didn’t pay attention. I just thought I had my whole life. I never said, ‘I want to do …’ I got a few jobs, but I didn’t have a plan. And I think it’s a fatal flaw because it takes a long time to get things done later.”

He added, “I look back and ask, ‘What was I thinking?’ And then I bought a house in New Orleans and went all out fixing it up.”
