The 61-year-old had a scary incident that happened on his way to shoot season 1 of the HBO series in Hawaii.
“For ‘The White Lotus,’ I didn’t want to look like a big white marshmallow on a beach in Hawaii, so I got a spray tan,” she recalls. “I got on the plane, and I started to feel very strange. When I got off the flight, I had to go to the emergency room.”
An allergic reaction forced the production team to change her makeup palette for filming to match her new temporary skin tone.
“I think we ended up using normal makeup,” she said. “After we stop filming, I’ll take a shower. I have such a quick reaction to things.”

The allergic reaction was definitely worth it as the actress recently received an Emmy win for her portrayal of Tanya McQuoid. Although the hospital visit was unpleasant, Coolidge was glad to get through the whole ordeal.

“I would say within the last five or six years, I started getting allergies. My eyes would always be watery, but I never thought it was my makeup.”
