He sat down with fellow actor Viola David in an interview Wednesday on Variety’s “Actress Actor”. and talk about various topics in the film industry.
The actor mentioned the unfair treatment of women in the industry regarding film roles, especially in action films. Lawrence later said, somewhat inaccurately, that prior to her role in “Hunger Games,” no woman had been filmed in a major action role.

“To keep certain people in the same position they’ve always been in.” Lawrence starred in the “Hunger Games” franchise as Katniss for all four films. The series is based on the young adult title by Suzanne Collins and follows the lives of teenagers from all 12 districts of Panem who are randomly selected to participate in a death match.
While Lawrence’s input in the film continues to be praised, the internet is offended by her claims. Following her comments, fans called out the actress and blasted her in comments and excerpts of Variety’s Twitter post of the interview.
