Jeremy Renner thankfully weathered the storm!
The actor appreciated his well-wishes in his first social media post after he suffered a slow-motion plowing accident on New Year’s Day. Although it was not snowing at the time of his accident, the highway was closed due to “severe winter weather” with the snow yet to be cleared.
Jeremy Renner Confirms His Slow But Steady Recovery In Honorable Mention
Renner was clearing a driveway near his Nevada home to allow his family to leave after spending the holidays together when the incident happened. A 911 call revealed that a snowcat — the device he uses to remove snow — had crashed into the “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” star on Mount Rose Highway in Washoe County.
He was immediately sent to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and medical attention. In a statement released by a representative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe star, observers were told:
“We can confirm Jeremy is in a critical but stable condition with his injuries after suffering a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today.”

The Blast added that Renner’s spokesperson claimed that he was surrounded by his family and was “receiving excellent care” following the incident. Even her publicist, Samantha Mast, stated that her family is asking for people’s “continued thoughts”, adding that they are overwhelmed by the love and support she has received so far.
Renner himself took to Instagram to thank fans with a hospital bed selfie showing his badly bruised face and tubes in his nonsense. In short, the “28 Weeks Later” actress wrote in the caption:
“Thank you all for your kind words. Im [SIC] too messed up right now to type. But I send love to you all.”
Within hours, the post garnered over four million likes and hundreds of thousands of comments from fans and friends, including fellow Marvel Universe teammates. Chris Hemsworth exclaimed, “Get well soon mate. Sending love your way!” while Chris Pratt stated, “Keep praying your way brutha.”
“Fantastic Four” star Chris Evans added, “Tough as nails. Love you buddy,” and “How I Met Your Mother” actress Cobie Smulders sent her love. Jimmy Fallon, Vanessa Hudgens, Orlando Bloom, Kate Hudson, and Heidi Klum also sent their love and well wishes to the Academy Award winner.
As for her fans, one commented, “Glad to know you’re sober and starting the road to recovery. Can’t wait to see you back in your new form, Mr. J!” “So glad to see you’re still here. Sending you lots of love and thoughts. You must be a superhero,” claimed another.
Although Renner began acting in the 1990s, it was in the late 2000s that his Hollywood career began to take off. By 2011, the father of one had gained acclaim as a Marvel star, eventually appearing in the 2021 miniseries, “Hawkeye” alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop.

In the Disney+ series, Renner’s character, Clinton Barton, takes over and trains Bishop to become his new protégé as the next “Hawkeye”. The show also reintroduced Wilson Fisk — aka Kingpin — Vincent D’Onofrio — to the MCU after Netflix canceled Marvel’s “Daredevil.”
Outside of the MCU, the 51-year-old starred in the 2017 film, “Wind River,” where he worked alongside his Marvel co-star Elizabeth Olsen, and had an uncredited cameo in the 2022 film, “Glass Onion: A Knife Out of Mystery.”
Golden Globe Nominee Undergoes Surgery To Repair Injuries Suffered In Accident
Shortly after his weather-related incident, The Blast reported that Renner underwent surgery after suffering orthopedic injuries and blunt force trauma to the chest from working with a large snow plow. A rep for the “To Have & to Hold” star updated the news outlet on the actor’s condition, stating:
“We can confirm that Jeremy suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and underwent surgery today, January 2, 2023. He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in a critical but stable condition.”
The spokesperson added that the “Mayor of Kingstown” actor’s family expressed their gratitude to the many people who helped them during the event. These individuals include doctors and nurses, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve, the Washoe County Sheriff, and the Murdock and Carano families.
Authorities revealed that Renner was the only person involved in the incident and that the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team will investigate the situation.
