Jerome Flynn’s career began in 1986 when he played firefighter Kenny “Rambo” Baines in the LWT television film London’s Burning. He was the only member of the main cast unable to reprise his role (apart from Gary McDonald, whose own character, Andreas “Ethnic” Lewis, was killed off in the film) due to prior obligations when the film spawned a series of the same name in 1988 In 1988, he portrayed Freddie in the ITV thriller The Fear, set in the London underworld.

For six episodes of the police drama Between The Lines (1992), he played DS Eddie Hargreaves. Flynn starred in the ITV series “Soldier Soldier” as Corporal Paddy Garvey of the King’s Fusiliers. The series premiered in 1990. In the series, she starred alongside Robson Green. After Flynn and Green sang Unchained Melody on the show, ITV was inundated with requests to buy the song, and the pair were convinced to record it and release it as a single, a double A-side with White Cliffs of Dover, recording Simon Cowell.
