The reality show host recently spoke to her US Weeklyadmitted that he thought Kat would go all the way and end up with Zach Shallcross.
“If I’m being honest, there was a time when I thought Kat was The One,” Jesse Palmer said. “After talking to Zach on camera [and] talking to Zach off camera, I really thought it was Kat at the end. So I know how hard this decision is for him, and I know how hard it is for him to say goodbye, obviously. I know it’s going to be very difficult.”
When Zach sends Kat home, Jesse admits he saw it all go down as he stood in the background with the producer. “I was with the producers watching the farewell at the castle in Budapest, and I just saw his face when he was standing in front of the castle and I thought, ‘Man, I just have to go over there and give a guy a hug.’ He needs someone to be there with him for now,” said the host of the show.
“He’s always been really great about letting me share that space with him just a little bit to try to help out,” he added. “But, you know, I know I’m not the only one who was surprised when Kat came home at that point. And I know it was one of the hardest decisions Zach has ever had.”

Bachelor Nation watched as Zach Shallcross sent Kat Izzo home during the latest episode of “The Bachelor.” But they weren’t the only ones surprised by the decision.
“I have done [feel blindsided]. I can definitely reflect on where I was feeling at the time, and they felt uncomfortable. But I don’t think that’s going to be something that overpowers our relationship,” Kat Izzo told the magazine. “We had a tough week, but we also had five good weeks. So I thought that would be something to show my family like, ‘Yeah, sometimes we’re not perfect. Sometimes we struggle. But he wanted to love them through it.’ I hope it will be him. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. But that’s okay.”
The 26-year-old went on to admit that she thinks Zach is “the one” for her. “I think he showed me characteristics that I would definitely do even outside of here, like, his silliness and his presence is something that I like to be very attracted to,” he said. “And up to the point where we left, I was like, ‘What? You should be my husband.’ But it’s okay! I mean, I’ve never felt that way. Even when I want to give up because it’s hard, I’m like, ‘No, this is my person at the end of this.’ I will never give up on it.”
“The Bachelor” continues Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu.
