A California coffee shop worker was filmed denying a Jewish customer access to a restroom after he complained it was covered in antisemitic graffiti — telling him to “Free Palestine” and accusing him of wanting to use the facility because “Israel likes to take private property and say it’s theirs. It’s theirs.”
Three employees at Farley’s East in Oakland stood in front of a bathroom and told an upset-sounding woman taping them that she had to leave.
“I want to go to the bathroom,” the woman repeatedly pleaded with the staff, who told her it was private property even while confirming she was a customer who had eaten there.
A male staff member then smiled as he told her: “I know Israel likes to take private property and say it’s theirs, but we have to have…”
When the woman again said that she “is a patron here and I have the right to go to the bathroom,” the man replied, “And we have the right to refuse service.”
When an employee of a neighboring business stepped in to offer the use of her company’s bathroom next door, the woman being filmed responded firmly: “No, I want to use this one. I should not be excluded and others allowed.”
Once she was allowed in, the woman filmed the restroom, which featured graffiti saying, “Zionism = Fascism.” One of the employees told the woman that she had to leave. StopAntisemitism/X A worker told the woman, “I know Israel likes to take private property and say it’s theirs.” Stop Antisemitism/X
One of the female employees blocked his way and tried to speed him off then stated that customers would only see antisemitic graffiti — suggesting he agreed with at least some of the messages.
The customer was finally allowed in after asking: “If you agree with [the graffiti]why are you afraid that I will take a picture of it?”
“Oh, actually, great – please!” the male worker said clearly excited to see what he was about to see.
He later posted messages including “Zionism = Fascism,” “Your neutrality/indifference enables genocide” and “Free Palestine.”
“History doesn’t start in 1948, ma’am,” quipped the male employee as the patron quickly filmed the inside of the restroom.
“Free Palestine. Now, please go,” said one of the women.
“Free Palestine,” the man agreed, smiling and saying, “It’s always great. We LOVE it” as he recorded it.

The video quickly went viral, with more than 2.6 million views since it was posted late Tuesday by StopAntisemitism.

Farley’s East confirmed the incident happened at its coffee shop — calling it an “error” while saying only that it had “taken corrective action with our staff,” without elaborating on what it meant.
“As context, hate speech graffiti was written in our bathroom. We do not support hate speech; this does not reflect our values,” the coffee shop wrote in what it called a “sincere apology.”
“After a customer used the bathroom and wanted to go back to document the graffiti, they were initially denied access and then allowed into the bathroom to record the graffiti. We apologize for this error and the inconvenience caused to customers,” the statement continued.
The coffee shop issued an apology online without explaining what happened to the employee.
“We are committed to ongoing staff training for a safe and welcoming environment. Thank you for understanding that we are a small business doing our best to operate a community business in a difficult environment,” the coffee shop concluded.
It is unclear if the employee involved in the incident remains on the job.
Farley’s East did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
