Jhansi was born as ‘Jhansi Laxmi’ in the Vijayawada City of Andhra Pradesh. She did her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Golconda.

Jhansi started her career as a host with the TV show ‘Talk of the Town’ that aired almost a decades between 1997 to 2007 on Gemini TV.
She has hosted various famous shows such as ‘Black,’ ‘Ko ante Koti,’ ‘Naveena,’ ‘ATM,’ ‘Pellipustakam,’ and ‘Sunday Sandadi.’ She has hosted the first, second, and third seasons of the TV show “Black,” which is touted as the first reality show for the visually impaired people in India.
Acting Career
She made her acting debut with the Telugu film “Aahvanam” in 1997.
She has played pivotal roles in the films such as ‘Jayam Manadera’ (2000), Raa, ‘Family Circus’ (2001), ‘Yagnam’ (2004), ‘Bhadra’ (2005), ‘Sri Krishna’ (2006), ‘Ashta Chamma-Heroine Aunt’ (2008), ‘Racha’ (2012), ‘Saakshyam’ (2018), ‘Maharshi’ (2019), and ‘Kousalya Krishnamurthy’ (2019).
Other Works
She made her debut as a director and playwright in theatres with the play “Purusha Sooktam” at Ravindra Bharati in 2019.
Jhansi runs a wellness enterprise called ‘Uzuri-Wellness with Jhansi’ which host a 21-day wellness course. The term ‘Uzuri’ means ‘health with beauty’ in the Swahili language.
Controversy
In 2019, the liplock scene of Rakul Preet Singh with Jhansi in the film ‘Manmadhudu 2,’ drew criticism from several netizens, who trolled the filmmakers and actors for their insensitive display of the affection of character. They also trended the hashtag ‘DeeplyDisturbing’ in context to the scene.

I could not even drape a saree all by myself or could not even lift the pen to write my weekly column for a Telugu newspaper. I was hosting a show a quiz show on ETV, but I was taking pain medication. However, it was Dr Sathya Lakshmi from Gandhi Naturocare Hospital who convinced me that my food is my medicine. I felt that it was worth a try and took her advice on food and nutrition seriously. In less than six months, I fully recovered.”
