Jimmy Kimmel Apologizes To Quinta Brunson

On Wednesday, Brunson made his first talk show appearance since winning his first Emmy on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The actress stunned in a beautiful pink gown with ruffled sleeves and a sequin design. She paired the dress with matching pink sky-high stilettos.

Once Brunson took the guest seat, Kimmel continued to congratulate him on his historic Emmy win for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for his hit show, “Abbott Elementary.” He later joked that he “slipped” moments before touching on the controversial subject.

The television host explained what happened, showing a video of the incident where Brunson tried to wake him up during his acceptance speech, saying it was comedy gone wrong.

“Now, that’s our silly comedy [Kimmel and Will Arnett] thought would be funny. I lost, and then I drank too much, then I had to be dragged off the stage, and then people got mad. They said I stole your time.” he explained.

Owning up to his actions and agreeing that he may have stolen Brunson’s moment, Kimmel continued, “Maybe I did, and I’m very sorry if I did that. I’m sorry that I did that actually. And also, the last thing I want to do is disappoint you because I think too much of you, and I think you know that. I hope you know that.”

She then further explained how she feels at the moment, adding, “Honestly, I was in such a fun time as I won my first Emmy! I’m up there happily, and I’m caught up in the moment.”

Although Brunson has stated that he is not at all upset with Kimmel for his actions during the Emmys, that did not stop him from getting revenge on the comedian.

Towards the end of “The Man Show” alumni’s opening monologue, the “Quinta Vs. Everything” star walked on stage proudly with her Emmy in hand as the crowd cheered interrupting Kimmel’s speech.

The show’s host, who seemed confused by her presence, said, “You know, you’re a little early for your interview. It’s after commercial,” to which she replied: “I know, but I have a little help to ask, actually. So you know how do you win an Emmy, you only have 45 seconds to do an acceptance speech, which isn’t a lot of time? And then you get even less time because someone does a bit of stupid comedy that goes on a little too long?”

Brunson asked Kimmel to take away the remaining time of his monologue so he could use it to complete his acceptance speech and thank more people. The comedian willingly went to the back while the “A Black Lady Sketch Show” star continued to recite her speech before closing the monologue.

Amidst the entire saga, Brunson has shown Kimmel nothing but love despite the backlash he’s received from the internet. As The Blast covered the press conference at the Emmys, the show’s writer and actress defended the late-night talk show host.

“I know Jimmy Kimmel, and I don’t know, I don’t think it bothers me that much. I don’t know what the internet thinks,” he told reporters.
