John Abraham was born on 17 December 1972 (age 47 years; as in 2018) in Kochi, Kerala, India. He was named Farhan Irani by his mother’s side but he goes by the name John Abraham, which is the exact opposite of his father’s name, Abraham John. He did his schooling from the Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai and enrolled at Jai Hind College, University of Mumbai to pursue a BA in Economics. After that, he completed his MBA from Mumbai Educational Trust. John was an active athlete from an early age and participated in the 100m and 200m races. In fact, he once represented his school at the district level in the 100m event. During his teenage years, he aspired to become an architect like his father and brother.
John started his modeling career playing a crime investigator in Jazzy B’s album “Surma.” He later worked as a media planner and production manager at Time & Space Media Entertainment Promotions Ltd and Nexus Enterprises.
Abraham participated in the Super Gladrags Manhunt Model Contest and stood out as the runner-up. Later, he also won the International Manhunt Contest.
Before stepping into Bollywood John joined Kishore Namit Kapoor’s Acting Lab to learn the basics of acting.

John belongs to a multi-religious family. He was born to a Malayali father Narsani and a Persian mother. His father, Abraham John, is an architect, and mother Firoza Irani, is a housewife, who works for charity. John has a younger brother, Alan Abraham, who is an architect. He also has an older sister, Susy Mathew.
John dated actress Riya Sen and wanted to settle down with her, but Riya rejected the offer as she wanted to make her career in Bollywood.
John meets Bipasha Basu on the sets of their film Jism and falls in love with her. The couple dated for about 8 years but their relationship ended due to John’s closeness with Priya.
John falls in love with Priya Runchal at a gym in Bandra. The couple tied the knot on January 3, 2014 in a private ceremony. Priya Runchal is a Banker by profession.
Career
John made his acting debut with “Jism” (2003) opposite Bipasha Basu. His voice was dubbed in the film. Next, he played a negative role in the action film “Dhoom.” The film was a commercial success and made him an actor. Her hairstyle in the film became a trendsetter among the youth.
In 2005, he appeared in “Water,” which proved to be a huge success after which he played a supporting role in the film “Baabul” (2006). After that, Abraham has appeared in many successful films including “Garam Masala” (2005), “Taxi No. 9211” (2006), “Dostana” (2008), “New York” (2009), “Housefull 2” ( 2012), “Welcome” (2015) and “Dishoom” (2016).
In 2013, John featured in “Madras Cafe,” which was a big blockbuster.
As a producer, he made his debut in 2012 with “Vicky Donor.” The film won the National award for “Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.” His second production was “Madras Cafe” directed by Shoojit Sircar.

Controversy
- When John appeared on a singing reality show to promote his film Jhootha Hi Sahi, he kissed Sugandha Mishra after his performance. While Sugandha herself was excited to be kissed by the person she liked, her grandfather raised an issue about it. John was heavily criticized for his actions.
- The famous “liplock” between Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the film Dostana became a problem for the actor. The scene caused so much controversy that it was the talk of the town for months.
- John is usually known for his polite behavior. However, the actor lost his temper during the trailer launch of his film, Force 2. According to sources, when he exited the venue, one of his fans grabbed his arm and pulled him for a selfie. John was so annoyed by this act that he finally slapped the man.
