Actor John Amos is now claiming that his daughter, Shannon Amos, is the “prime suspect” in the elder abuse investigation.
His eldest daughter launched a GoFundMe account earlier this month asking for $500,000 in medical aid and legal fees to help the “Good Times” actor. The 83-year-old initially claimed that he did not know why his daughter launched the GoFundMe and insisted that he had never “fought for [his] alive” in the ICU, as he claimed.
Now, in a new video from his hospital bed, the actor is changing his story a bit. Now he admits that he is a victim of elder abuse as local law enforcement begins their investigation, but names Shannon as the “prime suspect.”

On Friday morning, People magazine reported that the actor claimed that his daughter, Shannon Amos, was behind her elder abuse allegations.
The “Roots” star claims that her daughter has “taken advantage” of her in a new video shared on social media by son John KC Amos.
“He’s going to be the prime suspect – if you will,” John said in a video recorded from his hospital bed. “I don’t know if that’s the right term to use or not. But he is the person I would relate my elder abuse to. It is definitely a case of elder abuse.”

Last week, Shannon officially filed a complaint with the state alleging that her father was a “victim of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.” However, he did not respond to The People’s request for comment.
John Amos did respond to the magazine, though, telling his followers that he was doing “fine” despite the elder abuse allegations. “To all my fans, I wanted to share this video with you to show you that I am not depressed as described in the GoFundMe page,” John said. “Actually, I’m in good shape.”
KC Amos Says GoFundMe Is Not Approved By ‘America’s Dad’
John Amos, better known as “America’s Dad,” appears to be casting doubt on the legitimacy of a GoFundMe created by his daughter, which has now raised more than $13,000 from 325 individual donations. However, it is still far from the $500,000 goal.
KC used TikTok and later shared a video on her father’s page claiming: “The Go Fund is not authorized by John Amos.” In the caption of the Instagram post, it simply stated, “PERIOD.”

Fans have a lot of concerns for the actor over these repeated allegations. “Wow. The daughter said Elder’s abuse. The boy issued this message. He may not allow Go Fund Me. But clearly something very worrying is going on,” commented one fan.
“Just wanted to mention that the handle says John Amos, but the person posting this is his son, kc Amos, not John,” wrote another follower. “Something suspicious is going on,” a third fan chimed in.
“I believe his account may have been hacked, where is his son, I really want to know if he is ok, he is loved and cherished, the world is better with him in it, blessings go ahead Sir,” commented another follower, while another fans claim his son, KC, runs his father’s social media accounts.

Last Friday, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation sent out a press release on behalf of the Custer County Sheriff’s Office after a GoFundMe page was created.
“The men and women of the Colorado Custer County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery for Mr. John Amos,” the press release read. “His publicist has released information that he is currently a patient at a hospital in Tennessee. Mr. Amos has been a beloved member of our community for many years. He has also been a loyal supporter of our community and this sheriff’s office.”

We have also been in contact with Mr Amos and his lawyer.”
“As with any potential criminal investigation, we are unable to provide any additional comment on the case or the investigation,” the statement added. “We have received questions from media around the country and this will be our statement until we are in a position to release additional information.”
