The insider said, “She likes that she’s her own person and being her own actress. She doesn’t put her career on her laurels. She likes that she’s strong, especially now that she’s gotten extra attention with her recent role on The Idol.”

As for the criticism that has followed Lily-Rose since the series debuted at Cannes, Depp feels it’s a sign that his daughter “must be doing something right.”

The young actor said, per Daily Mail, “’The way he dresses, for example, is that he’s trying to tell you something all the time… or express his feelings in some kind of way. I also think that the stupidity of the character occasionally mirrors the stupidity that we can see emotionally in him.”

And while many may believe that director Sam Levinson is only portraying Joyceln the way she is, Lily-Rose reveals that this is not the case.

He added, “I was privileged to be really involved in the creation of this character and the intricacies of how he expresses himself.”
