JoJo Siwa shares her regrets about appearing on “Dance Moms.”
The multihyphenate first gained attention on reality television after competing in the second season of “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition” at the age of nine. Soon after, she and her mother, Jessalynn, joined “Dance Moms” — which follows the training and careers of talented child dancers at Abby Lee Miller’s school, Abby Lee’s Dance Company — in its fifth season.
Although it’s been decades since then, Siwa has recalled an event he wishes never happened during his time on the show.

One such incident led to Siwa’s biggest regret, which he shared with his 45.4 million followers in a recent TikTok update. After explaining that she doesn’t “regret doing “Dance Moms” at all because it shaped her into the person she is today,” the YouTuber recounted:
“However, I do have one regret from my time on ‘Dance Moms,’ and that is that I didn’t watch the ‘Carrie.’ If you ever see this scene from ‘Dance Moms’ where I say, ‘well, if you yell at me, I’m going to cry,’ that’s because Abby yelled at me because I didn’t watch the movie. my dance is inspired by.”
Turns out, the dance was inspired by a 1976 horror film, which her 12-year-old self was “scared” to watch while in a hotel room. Siwa admitted that he might have performed better if he had watched the film.
However, he said, “with those words, although I regret that I really do not regret it. Because I’ll probably never say, ‘well, if you yell at me, I’m going to cry.’ So, don’t ever regret.”

In his latest chat about the dance series, Siwa has highlighted the “cruelty” he endured following a resurfaced clip from the show. According to reports, at the time the 19-year-old had uploaded a TikTok duet that showed her on one side and Miller on the other, telling the kids to dance:
“I ask each of you to do your homework. I want you to write about JoJo — why she shouldn’t be part of the Abby Lee Dance Company.”
Her “Dance Moms” co-stars immediately began listing what they thought was “wrong” with the younger Siwa, who was seen wiping tears from her face. Although the Nebraska native smiled and shook her head as she watched the video, she echoed Miller’s words when he told her she “deserved nothing.”
The duet, which came with an overlay of text that read, “When people hate try and hurt me, but this is my childhood,” immediately had people calling Miller out for his actions.

Siwa is not the only one who has had a bad experience with the dance competition reality series. Miller was hit on the road when he was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to felony bankruptcy fraud in 2016. Although he was sentenced to a year in prison, he ended up serving only eight months for good behavior. Although his time in prison halted his reality television career, it made him realize what was important and who would be there for him.
