Legendary comedian and actor Jon Lovitz blasted HBO host Jon Oliver this week after the British talk show host reprimanded the United States for supporting Israel and the “suffering” it is causing in Gaza following the October 7 Hamas massacre.
Lovitz responded to a social media post from Oliver’s talk show with an X note stated how the US will clearly support its “democratic ally” Israel over the radical terrorist group that killed 1400+ people in the country last month.
Pushing back against the British HBO host’s skepticism of America’s alliance with Israel, Lovitz declared, “God bless America. #IstandwithIsrael.”
The Jewish-American comedian released X on Monday in response to the late-night host’s recent segment on the topic during a recent episode of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.”
During the segment, Oliver revealed how US money, weapons and training have increased the “suffering” of the Palestinian people at the hands of Israel. After playing a clip of a Palestinian telling a reporter about how his daughter was killed by American weapons at the hands of Israel, Oliver commented that the “made in America” slogan we’re all “proud of” is being attached to “that stuff. killing people.”

He continued, saying, “Israel is bombing non-stop. Again, thousands of people in Gaza have been killed so far, which honesty shouldn’t be entirely surprising given that an IDF spokesperson has previously said loudly, ‘the emphasis is on damage and not on precision.’”
“And there are some annoying efforts to downplay the suffering in Gaza,” Oliver added.
Lovitz takes issue with the way Oliver frames the issue. He replied on X, stating, “Yes. The United States is allied with Israel, our Democratic ally, not Hamas, a terrorist organization that broke a two-year ceasefire, killed at least 1,200 innocent civilians, and took 240 civilian hostages back with them. So they can start an endless war with Israel and destroy Israel and then the Jews all over the world.”

Lovitz isn’t done yet. He posted again about Oliver’s clip, this time sharing an Israel Today article titled, “Hamas terrorists admit to raping corpses, beheading children.” The comedian told Oliver, “Please talk about this on the next show.”
The comedian has supported Israel’s right to defend itself against Hamas on social media platforms in recent weeks.
Last week Lovitz tore into Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) after the lawmaker blasted the US for wanting to fund Israel’s “long-term military occupation of an already battered & impoverished people.”

The comedian did not give up, writing, “Well, you have done a great job in keeping peace in the region. They don’t want peace. They want to kill all the Israelis. Read this article and get information.”
He added, “Are you really this naive? You are not a Communist, you are a Democratic Socialist. Oh.. that’s like saying, I’m not a Christian, I’m a Jew for Jesus! I don’t believe you are Jewish. You are the most anti-Israel senator I have ever seen.”
