The former host’s return to the show after nearly a decade is reportedly temporary but with the larger purpose of providing stability. Stewart ran something of the coveted host desk from 1999 to 2015 and picked up the mantle again on Monday.

The network made the exciting announcement on its Instagram page by posting a photo of the comedian in a photo studio with his feet up on the host’s desk and captioning it, “Here it is, your Zen Moment.”
Fans swarmed the comments section, expressing their excitement to see Stewart back on screen this morning as one wrote, “The King is back!” and another added, “Let’s f—-g goooo!!.”

Stewart will man the control room only on Mondays but will also serve as the new executive producer for every episode from now until 2025. In addition to hosting the show in the past, Stewart also mentored some of the biggest names in the comedy industry during his time on “The Daily show.”
The talent includes Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, Olivia Munn, Josh Gad, John Oliver, Steve Carell, and many more.
Stewart’s new gig on the show is well-timed as Apple TV+ recently canceled his TV show “The Problem with Jon Stewart” after reportedly heated back-and-forth with Apple executives over the show’s topics and guests each TMZ.
Before this new development, Stewart surprised guest host Roy Wood Jr. Last April on the show when he appeared in the iconic costume of the “Star Wars” character Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Blast shared details about the hilarious exchange between Stewart and Wood, including one where Wood pretended to be ignorant of Stewart’s time as host on the show. “I used to work here when the budget wasn’t that big a few years ago,” joked Stewart. “I actually organized the program, to be honest with you.” Wood responded, “The Daily Show has a white host?”

Stewart’s return is sure to pull the show out of troubled waters after it came under fire for failing to make Roy Wood Jr a permanent host last year. The comedian announced his exit from the host chair after eight years serving as correspondent alongside Trevor Noah, who leaves in 2022.
“After eight amazing years at The Daily Show, where I’ve been able to pursue my passion for comedy and politics with some of the best writers, producers, crew and reporters anyone could hope for, I’ve decided to move on,” Wood announced.
The Blast shared that Woods expressed his reluctance to wait for the regular host gig, so he will move on, adding:
“What can they really say? [They’re] won’t give me a job just to keep me.”
However, the 45-year-old stated that he is open to considering a permanent hosting job should the network change their mind. Wood’s departure was met with enthusiasm from Comedy Central as their spokesperson shared that they do not wish the best for Wood in his future endeavors.
“Roy Wood Jr. is a comedic genius and beloved teammate. His insight and hilarity helped us make sense of the 2016 election, the pandemic and countless Fox News stories. We thank him for spending time with us and look forward to seeing what he does next,” the spokesperson said.
The decision garnered a lot of negative feedback from viewers, who wondered why they failed to offer Wood a permanent spot.
