The Jonathan Majors assault case continues to be an unpleasant ride for the actor as he has been slapped with revised domestic violence allegations.
The Hollywood sensation disappeared in March 2023 after authorities arrested him following an alleged physical altercation with a 30-year-old woman. The entertainer has been fighting to clear his name in the wake of these allegations.
The pursuit of the truth goes into the courtroom, where the father-of-one’s legal team battles DA representatives in their first showdown. Read on to learn more about the case.
Attorney Jonathan Majors Claims DA’s Office Is In ‘Witch Hunt’

Tuesday, May 9, marked the “Lovecraft Country” star’s first day in court on assault and harassment charges. However, PEOPLE revealed the 33-year-old was virtually attending the trial at Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City.
The Santa Barbara native left discussions with his attorney, speaking only to confirm to Judge Rachel S. Pauley that he had agreed to a virtual appearance. This action appears to have saved the TV personality from losing his cool in private as the Manhattan District Attorney’s office has revised their charges against him.
During the trial, the prosecutor revealed a superseding complaint that allegedly stemmed from the alleged victim’s narrative. The DA slapped the Black Reel Award winner with third-degree assault, a charge the entertainer will face physically in court.
Judge Pauley ordered the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” actor to appear in person at the next hearing, which is scheduled for June 13. The judge will also rule on motions requested by the defense at a future hearing.
While the father-of-one has been tight-lipped about his ongoing dilemma, the same cannot be said for his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry. The woman’s lawyer actively supported her client, claiming his innocence at every opportunity.
After the hearing, legal representatives called the DA’s office to proceed with the case based on false allegations. According to the defense attorney, he and his team have provided “irrefutable evidence” disputing the alleged victim’s allegations.
Chaudhry declared that prosecutors colluded with the woman because they refused to admit the truth and revised the charges in the case to fit the 30-year-old woman’s narrative. “However this bogus case continued the location the woman allegedly moved to, and the story changed,” the lawyer said in his statement.

“This is a witch hunt against Jonathan Majors, fueled by baseless allegations. “Instead of dismissing the charges in the face of the woman’s obvious lies, the DA has adjusted the charges to match the woman’s new lies,” the actor’s representative claimed.
Additionally, Chaudhry reaffirmed his client’s innocence in his statement, revealing that they have “more video evidence” to support their position. However, they were “hesitant to share it, for fear the DA would tell the woman to change her story again.”
Free Spirit Award Candidate Accepts His Alleged Victim’s Request for Protection
Last month, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office announced that an alleged victim in a domestic violence case had been granted a temporary protection order. However, their statement revealed that Majors supported the woman’s decision.
“Today, a judge granted the victim a Full Temporary Protection Order, as requested by the People and with the consent of the defense attorney. (At the time of trial, a Limited Temporary Protection Order was granted,).” DA’s statement was read.
The request officially ceases all communication between the parties, including direct and third-party contact. The ban will reportedly remain in effect until the next court date. The Marvel star’s lawyer also confirmed that his client wants distance from the alleged victim.

In a statement shared on Twitter, Chaudhry explained that “Mr. Majors wanted nothing to do with the woman who attacked him.” According to the lawyer, the DA’s office violated “their own policy of not commenting to the press” by disclosing what he claimed was a “non-event (agreed upon standard protective order).”
Legal representatives blasted prosecutors for malicious intent on damaging the TV personality’s reputation with “no rational reason” to deny Majors’ testimony of innocence.
Evidence of this truth includes witness statements and forensic opinions from Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians and Trauma Specialists.
