A Manhattan jury convicted Jonathan Majors on Monday of charges stemming from a fight with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in a rental car — potentially derailing the rising Hollywood star’s plans to headline a future Marvel superhero movie.
The guilty verdicts – on one count of misdemeanor assault and one count of harassment – came after Jabbari, 30, testified that she lived in fear of Majors’ violent attacks during a traumatic two-year relationship that ended after the actor was “hard”. shot” over his head in a private car as he crossed the Manhattan Bridge.
Majors, 34, faces up to a year behind bars at his sentencing, although he is more likely to receive a no-prison sentence on probation and mandated treatment.
He stood tall in Manhattan Criminal Court as the verdict was read after about seven hours of deliberations over three days.
The March 25 meeting at the center of the case erupted in the backseat of a black Cadillac Escalade when Jabbari grabbed Majors’ cellphone after seeing a flirtatious text — which read “I wish I kissed you” — from another woman named “Cleopatra,” trial testimony revealed in Manhattan Criminal Court.
As Majors tried to flip through his phone, Jabbari tried to “protect myself” by curling up away from the actor, he told jurors.
Majors then twisted her arm back, causing “excruciating pain,” grabbed her finger and hit her with an open hand, Jabbari testified.

“I felt like a hard blow to my head,” he told jurors, hitting the microphone in the witness stand in front of him hard to show the impact of the strike.
Surveillance video presented at trial showed Majors picking up Jabbari — a dancer and movement coach he met in 2021 on the set of Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” — and shoving him several times into a black SUV after it stopped at Central and Canal streets. in Chinatown.
Jabbari was treated at Bellevue Hospital the morning after the incident for a laceration to his right ear and a broken right middle finger, prosecutors said.
Majors has maintained his innocence since his arrest, with his attorney arguing that Jabbari was the aggressor during the altercation and that prosecutors did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the actor caused his injuries.
The decision could derail Marvel’s plans for Majors to star as supervillain Kang the Conqueror in at least two planned films, including “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” slated for release in 2026.

The six jurors began deliberations on the evening of November 14, following a two-week trial that saw Jabbari testify over four days.
The soft blonde left the witness stand in tears as she revisited past examples of Majors’ alleged violent behavior and rewatched footage of the police officer questioning her as she lay half-naked on the floor of the Major’s bedroom.
Majors, who chose not to testify, attended the hearing wearing a variety of different double-breasted suits and with his new girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, on his arm as he walked in and out of the courtroom.
He also occasionally glanced at the gold-leafed Bible he brought to the defense table.

The trial uncovered evidence of Majors’ past disturbing behavior during her relationship with Jabbari, including her allegedly pleading with her ex not to see a doctor after she suffered a head injury in a separate incident in September 2022.
“I’m afraid you have no perspective on what could happen if you go to the hospital,” wrote the “Creed III” actor. “They’ll ask you questions, and since I don’t think you’re actually protecting us, it could lead to an investigation even if you’re lying and they suspect something.”
The full-text exchange was partially redacted, but trial evidence revealed that Jabbari responded that, if he sought treatment, he would “tell the doctor I hit my head.”
“Why did I tell them what really happened when I clearly want to be with you?” he added.

Suddenly, the embarrassing texts emerged only after the Majors’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, “opened the door” to them by relentlessly grilling Jabbari about why he gave cryptic answers to police and doctors about the March episode, the court found.
Judge Michael Gaffey later ruled that prosecutors should be allowed to provide additional context about why Jabbari might be wary of telling authorities what really happened.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office also played a taped juror of Major lecturing Jabbari that she needs to behave more like the wives of other famous men, such as Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr., and “make sacrifices for him.”
“I’m a great guy. A GREAT man. I did great things, not just for me but for my culture and for the world,” the actor said in the September 2022 recording, made by Jabbari.
Majors had been upset at Jabbari at the time for going out to the pub with a friend despite her demands that he instead attend to her needs while she prepared for the role, she testified.

“I want to get to the point where your friends know what my job is and go, ‘I think Grace is going to lose her commission,'” Majors said in the recording.
The jury also heard about how Majors, in Jabbari’s story, was both a “loving” boyfriend who left her handwritten notes early in their relationship – and a volatile partner prone to anger.
“He just exploded,” Jabbari testified about the July 2022 incident in which he said Majors smashed candles and other household objects against their bedroom wall.
“His face changed quite a bit when he entered the place,” he added.
Wiping tears from his face, Jabbari also explained on the stand why he decided repeatedly to stay with the Majors despite his concerns about his frequent temper tantrums.
“I felt that I had to keep it a secret from everyone,” she testified. “It’s kind of confusing because I feel so scared of him, but so dependent on him.”
