Former Marvel star Jonathan Majors has reportedly escaped being sent to prison and has been given a light sentence after being found guilty of assaulting and harassing ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

Last week, Majors’ defense team made a last-ditch attempt to get the jury verdict overturned, but a New York Judge denied the motion. The actor is now facing a new lawsuit from Jabbari, who accuses him of battery, assault, and malicious prosecution.

After being found guilty of assault and reckless harassment in December of last year, New York judge Michael Gaffey sentenced Majors to enter a domestic violence treatment program.

Prior to that sentence, Majors faced a year in prison. Experts have previously argued that some of the actor’s interviews after he was found guilty would have provoked the judge to give him a harsher sentence. Fortunately, the actor was given a light sentence.

In addition to the intervention program, Judge Gaffey imposed a permanent protective order against any contact with Jabbari and continued therapy for the “Loki” star.

According to the news outlet, the actor was ineligible to apply or be a gun owner, with the judge stating that Majors could spend up to 364 days in jail for violating the sentencing requirements. He could also spend six months in jail if he does not complete the intervention program.

On December 18, the actor was found guilty of two misdemeanor charges of reckless assault and harassment against Jabbari. This came after a three-week trial that included showing a number of videos and photographs by both sides to prove their case.

However, Majors’ legal troubles are far from over, as Jabbari has filed a new lawsuit against him. The professional dancer claims that the actor subjected her to a “pervasive pattern of domestic abuse that began in 2021 and continued through 2023.”

The major’s attorneys said they would file a counterclaim, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Jabbari’s defamation claim stems largely from an interview the “Creed III” star gave after he was found guilty by a jury of three women and three men.

Her lawsuit states: “After her arrest, Majors immediately launched an extensive media campaign smearing Grace, claiming that she was ‘absolutely innocent,’ ‘a possible victim,’ that she ‘didn’t attack him at all,’ and that ‘this woman suffered an emotional crisis, for which he was taken to hospital.'”

Majors discussed the guilty verdict for the first time during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he said he was surprised by the jury’s verdict.

He said at the time, “I shouldn’t have been in the car. I shouldn’t have been out of the relationship. I shouldn’t have been in the relationship. If I hadn’t been in the car, none of this. was happening.”

The actor added, “I was really shocked and scared. How could that be? Based on the evidence, based on the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence.”

When pressed for more information, Majors told the news outlet that he “can’t say much more about it,” adding that “the law” prevents him from elaborating.
