Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith appear to have split amicably, as the Canadian actor has agreed to joint custody of their young daughter.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Jackson finally responded to Turner-Smith’s divorce filing a month later, and the estranged couple are fighting over custody of their child.

In the filing, Jackson agreed with Turner Smith’s claim that “irreconcilable differences” were the cause of their split. Additionally, he agreed that they should have joint legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old daughter, Juno Rose Diana.
He is also on the same page as the British model of their ironclad prenuptials determining the terms of dividing their assets.
However, the Canadian actress failed to agree with Turner-Smith on one thing — the date of separation. While the 37-year-old actress listed September 13, 2023, as their Split date, Jackson claimed it was 17 days later, on September 30, 2023. Now, that’s interesting. In other words, it may not be a heated argument that ends the relationship.
But, the contrast in information may not create any drama for the estranged couple. In addition, Jodie Turner-Smith has proposed the appointment of a private judge to help settle their divorce and keep the divorce proceedings out of the public eye.
Recall that Turner-Smith filed for divorce from her husband of four years in a move that surprised many, given that they still maintain appearances on social media.
Although it dragged on, the couple had a whirlwind romance, getting engaged just a few months after meeting at the “Dawson Creek” star’s birthday party in 2018. They obtained a marriage license from the Beverly Hills Courthouse in 2019 and became a family of three in 2020.
However, they experienced their first sign of trouble in paradise in September 2022 when they temporarily unfollowed each other on Instagram. Not sure what caused the rift, but they wasted no time in making up, even making loved-up appearances at several events they attended together.
Following the “White Noise” actor’s filing, a source close to the couple claimed he was shocked and “heartbroken” by the divorce request but is ready to work things out.

He always thought that he would get married and grow old with a family, and everything would be happily ever after,” the informant told the Daily Mail. “He had a dream scenario in his mind, and Jodie was his person and the person he thought he would be with forever.”
The source added that Jackson hoped they would work and repair the marriage, saying, “He would love nothing more than to still be with Jodie and in a perfect world would probably take her back if she stopped the divorce, but now that they’ve gotten to where this, he has to accept it.”
However, insiders claim the “Fatal Attraction” star is more focused on lovingly co-parenting their daughter through the difficult phase. “He never wanted this for their daughter. They are both great parents and will continue to be. He just hated that they wouldn’t be together as a couple for their daughter anymore. They will always be in touch through it,” the source said.
Jodie-Turner Smith Doesn’t Want to Settle Down
While Jackson is reportedly ready to keep the fire burning in their marriage, other sources claim that’s not the case for Turner-Smith, who doesn’t want to “settle down.”

“He refuses to settle for something that doesn’t feel right,” a source said. Adding that the marriage “didn’t work for him, so he tore off the Band-Aid.”
The 37-year-old actor has reportedly moved into a hotel in Los Angeles amid the divorce while he and the 45-year-old figure out the next steps in their divorce and develop a cohesive parenting plan.
Jackson reportedly had no idea his estranged wife felt that way about their marriage, with a source claiming, “Joshua was clearly shocked by Jodie’s decision to divorce. They have their problems, as many couples do — especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child. Joshua obviously didn’t realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy.”
The insider also claims that close friends of the fan favorite couple are “confused” because they “seem so devoted to each other.”
