The self-proclaimed muse shared that like Barrymore she was waiting for her mother to die to “uncover” all the alleged trauma in her life. The shocking revelation comes after Barrymore’s own confession.
The host of the talk show told New York Magazine that she “can’t wait” to unravel the parental trauma when her mother, Jaid, a fellow actor dies. The comment so shocked Barrymore’s fans that she had to explain what she meant.
“I’ve been vulnerable and trying to figure out a very difficult and painful relationship while acknowledging it’s hard to do when the parents are alive,” Barrymore explained. “And, for those of us who have to figure it out in real time can’t wait, because they can’t wait for time, not that the parents are dead.”

Fox commented on a Page Six article reporting on Barrymore’s statement. The 33-year-old wrote, “I can relate lmao.” Although Fox chose not to explain what he meant by the statement, it is assumed that his relationship with his mother is strained.
Fox had to reveal a few months ago that he grew up in New York City with very little supervision by his father. He mentioned that his mother lived in Italy where Fox was born but left before the age of 10.
His father, Thomas Fox, and younger brother, Christopher, were arrested in March after police raided their Manhattan apartment and found a phantom weapon and evidence of narcotics manufacturing.
His father was released when it was proven that he did not know what was happening in his house. His son operates on his own. Christopher was later released after Fox and several loans were later able to pay the bail.

He immediately defended his brother to the media. “I know my brother and I’ve always known him as — I kid you not — the sweetest, gentlest, kindest, soft-spoken, animal-loving, flower-growing, green-thumbed, nature-loving.”
This is also when he reveals that his mother did not raise his brother and himself. Additionally, her father wasn’t the greatest caretaker and Fox found herself on the streets making big girl moves in her teens and early twenties including serving as a dominatrix.

It was widely known and played out in public when Barrymore pleaded with the court to be thin from her mother when she was 14 years old. Her childhood with her mother was a struggle and moving away from her was an important step for the teenage Barrymore.
He further clarified his puzzling statement. “All [my friends’] mother is gone, and my mother is gone. And I was like, ‘Well, I don’t have that luxury.’ But I can’t wait.”
Barrymore continued. “I don’t want to live in a situation where I want someone to leave earlier than they should so that I can grow. I actually want him to be happy and thrive and be healthy. But I have to raise the king even if he is on this planet.”
