The actor-turned-screenwriter revealed at the Cannes Film Festival this week that he is working on an original idea with his writing partner Sara Apple. Lipstick Palm is in pre-production and the plot according to Fox is mixed Weekend at Bernie’s and Spring Breaker.
Weekend at Bernie’s of course the 80s comedy about two men who shroud their dead boss and make him appear alive for fear that they might have killed him.
Spring Breaker is a 2012 Harmonie Korine film starring Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, and Rachel Korine as four friends on a drug-fueled spring break. Fox described the film as, “It’s about these two girls and they’re in LA,” at a Cannes event for the Art of Elysium charity.
Why Did Julia Fox Choose That Movie?

The self-proclaimed muse elaborates on her choice of inspiration and how it influences her films. “They’re classic. One is an aspiring actor, and the other is a baby of nepotism – but the father has seven children, so the pool has been diluted. They’re drug addicts, so they’re in recovery, but they’re always in and out. One has a sugar daddy.”
And while he doesn’t want to give too much away, he does say, “There’s a body involved somewhere.”
Fox also has another movie coming out, which he didn’t write. Trainer, also starring Vito Schnabel, and Steven Van Zant. It’s a dark comedy that focuses on a sleep-deprived main character who lives with his mother and tries to achieve his version of the American dream.
Movies will always be in Fox’s life as he can see himself directing movies one day in the near future.

The actor is enjoying his first Cannes Film Festival experience. “My friends always say I will be a great dictator, but what I hope is that I will be a great director.”
The charity event he was invited to was also his first. His first time on a yacht. “It’s new to me, but I can get used to it.” And the reporter was a fool not to ask Fox about her outfit.
She wears a see-through dress that she describes as: “I think this is made of a sheet; it’s late [when she tried it on]. I was like, ‘I like this.’ I’m a pillow princess.” Fox talks more about her fashion choices in her upcoming book.
He started a memoir in quarantine that he revealed Page Six back in 2020. “I want to change it a bit, just the overall structure and composition. That was great to be able to do that because normally, I’m someone who can’t sit still for too long,” he admitted.
No name or release date yet but if it comes from Fox it will most likely blow up.
