After Madonna revealed that she would embark on a global tour starting in July, the filming of her autobiography was postponed to January.

At the time, Universal Pictures was developing the film, and the singer decided to take over as director himself. However, after the aforementioned 40th anniversary tour, the film was shelved.

Sun claimed that due to the “Back That Up To the Beat” singer’s strange “circus antics” on social media and his excessive control over the production, the film would never be released.

According to a source who spoke to the outlet, Madonna’s controversial social media posts left Universal executives “scratching their heads” and her “almost total” control over the project left them with no choice but to scrap it.

“Madonna did herself no favors by acting weird on social media throughout this process,” the source shared. “He signed a contract to make this movie, and that should be a signal to him to stop the circus antics, stop chasing likes, and just lean in and shape this movie.”
