On July 16, 2020, Thursday night, he died of a massive heart attack. His death was confirmed by senior Kashmiri journalist Yusuf Jameel who tweeted,
Promising young Kashmiri man RanbirKapoor and son of my old neighbor Nissar Ahmed Shah Junaid Shah passed away after suffering a massive heart attack on Thursday night.”
