The former “Bachelor” lead opened up about her future, admitting she’s scared to bring children into the world following her split from Jason Tartick.
“These are intense conversations and deep questions, but I have a huge fear of having children because of all this, because of what life will look like in 10 years, with all the things we talked about,” Bristowe told marriage and family therapist Jenny Wise Black on the podcast. In an earlier discussion, the two talked about kids using social media too young and how many people today have become obsessed with technology and public perception, something Bristowe admits she’s experienced.
“And I always thought having a family was, ‘I can’t wait. I want to be a mother,’ all these things. And every year that goes by, I’m more and more afraid of having children,” she continued. “And then there’s the shame around it too . Because how could you not? That’s what you were born to do, give birth and do this. And you know, the shame around all that with not having children.
“The Bachelor” alum said, “Maybe I’m worried about what people on social media are going to say about a girl who’s single again and 38, doesn’t have a family.”

Bristowe and Patrick began dating in 2019 and got engaged in 2021. The two took to Instagram Sunday afternoon to announce that they had decided to split.
“After sharing the news with family and close friends first and taking time to properly process it, we are saddened with a heavy heart to share that we have decided to end our engagement,” the couple wrote on social media. “We are grateful to all of you who gave us the time and space to process this life-changing decision, as there are many emotions and changes to navigate.”
The couple went on to explain how they plan to remain friends and will continue to look after their two dogs, Ramen and Pinot, together. “Our dogs Ramen & Pinot will continue to be cared for together as brothers,” they wrote. “Even if their humans are no longer romantically involved, we will love and care for them together.”
“Continuing our friendship is very important to both of us. We feel grateful to end our engagement with love and respect for each other,” they continued. “It’s heartbreaking and sad to say goodbye, but our care and admiration for each other will never die.”
Tartick and Bristowe concluded, “We are so grateful for the memories made together and for your support of us and the boys throughout the years. Going forward, we will always have a level of support for each other. We don’t know what the future holds, so please try to keep room for us in your heart.”
