Following a press conference by Kansas City Fire Department Chief Ross Grundyson, the number of shooting victims has risen to at least 22 people.

Grundyson revealed that there were “a total of 22 gunshot victims, one of whom was fatal. We had eight with what we considered to be a life-threatening patient, we had seven with life-threatening injuries, and we had six with minor injuries.”

The Fire Chief also shared that people with life-threatening injuries were “transported to the hospital within 10 minutes, so [they] felt that the response was certainly adequate and appropriate.”

Due to the chaotic state of Union Station, several people were injured while trying to escape from danger.

A high school student who was at the location shared his ordeal stating that he was injured while running away from the gunfire.

“The security guard was like, ‘Let go of the damn fence now, there’s a shooter.’ As I jumped over the barrier, my leg hit [it] and my face was nailed to the concrete,” Gabe Wallace told the Kansas City Star.

He also shared that he has yet to contact some of his friends who also attended the march, adding, “I don’t know if my friends are okay. It was horrible… I really thought, most of my friends are dead. That’s all I could think of, like, ‘Is my friend dead or not?’”

“I am angry with what happened today. People who come to this festival should expect a safe environment,” said Graces. He revealed that there were still victims admitted to the hospital but stated that he did not believe any of the victims were children.

After being asked about the possibility of filming some scenes, Graves said, “That’s still an active thing. That’s a lot to talk about, as you know, the size of Union Station. I will tell you that we found the crime scene west of Union Station. As far as the front[the station]that is still under investigation.”

The police chief added, “We have crime scene investigators as well as detectives. We have a lot of our Assault Squad detectives and homicide detectives who are actually in uniform today working on that assignment, so not only do you have a uniformed presence immediately responding to the scene, rendering aid and running to the scene, you also have detectives immediately on the scene who are still there and actively working.”
