Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, has filed a new lawsuit over music leaked on Instagram.
Ye is suing for misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract in court documents obtained by The Blast. Ye is the owner of several music copyrights that have been leaked to Twitter and Instagram.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the “Donda” rapper is suing for misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract after several songs were leaked on Twitter and Instagram. The songs, referred to as “Listed Compositions” throughout the court documents, were “improperly released” on an Instagram page owned by the hand “daunreleasedgod_.”
The Instagram page has repeatedly leaked music by multiple artists, not just Ye, according to court documents, which later state that “Defendant, without permission, license or permission from Ye, improperly leaked, published and distributed multiple Listed Compositions. including but not limited to the following found on “Instagram” and ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).”
Ye claims that the unauthorized leaking and distribution of his music has caused “substantial harm” to his “work, reputation and earning potential.” He also stated that he has “suffered significant financial loss and damage” as a “direct result” of music being posted to social media without his consent.

Additionally, the “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” rapper insists that leaking a song online is tantamount to revealing a trade secret. “Ye’s musical compositions, with their distinctive arrangements and unique elements, are trade secrets because of their economic value, confidentiality, and the effort taken to protect them,” the court document states.
They went on to say that the Instagram page in question “knowingly and unlawfully obtained, disclosed and distributed Ye’s trade secrets, proprietary musical compositions, in violation of their legal and ethical obligations.”
Ye sought a preliminary and permanent injunction “enjoining and restraining the Defendants and their agents, servants, employees, representatives, affiliates and other business entities, successors, assigns, and those acting with them or at their direction, from further misappropriation, disclosure or unlawful use of trade secrets or confidential information in any way or any rights in and to the Listed Composition, including without limitation by directly or indirectly reproducing, downloading, distributing, communicating to the public, uploading upload, link to, transmit, publicly perform, or otherwise exploit in any way the Listed Composition.”
Ye is seeking full attorneys’ fees and costs, along with statutory prejudgment interest, and any other relief the Court deems just and proper.

Ye has been making headlines lately with his “wife” Bianca Censori. They were both reported under police investigation after being photographed in a compromised state while on vacation in Venice, Italy.
According to the Daily Mail, the Yeezy founder and his wife were riding a water taxi in Venice when they were photographed in the middle of a pornographic scene. The photo went viral on social media as many called for the rapper to be deported or arrested for the act.
According to a police informant who spoke to the outlet, the water taxi driver has been identified and will be questioned in the coming days as part of an ongoing investigation by local law enforcement officials.

“There are standards of public decency that tourists and locals must adhere to and any breach is severely punished. Images of West with his pants open while in a taxi as he and his partner crossed the lagoon were seen around the world,” a police source in Venice told the outlet.
“You can clearly see his pants half down and we have received complaints from people who witnessed it. We have now identified the boat driver and we will ask him what he saw as well,” they continued, adding that the couple were in a “state of intimacy” at the time the photo was taken.
“The images clearly show the couple in a state of intimacy and if the local prosecutor decides to prosecute, then we will inform the couple, most likely through the relevant Embassy,” they continued, noting that the couple is being investigated for “acts contrary to public decency which can be punished with administrative sanctions.”
