And I know that the police do attack and that America in general is racist.”
He continued, “And I understand that when we have to say Black Lives Matter, the idea of it makes us feel good together as a people, right? So when I question the death of George Floyd, it hurts my people. I want to apologize.” West also explained that God, the media, and Adidas have shown him “what it’s like to have a knee on my neck right now.”
West went on to talk about how it felt to lose so many business partnerships. He said, “So thank you God for humbling me and telling me how it really feels. Because how can the richest black man be degraded other than made out of being a millionaire in front of everyone with just one comment.”

West also spoke about his anti-Semitic remarks during his conversation with the paparazzi. The “Hurricane” rapper explained that he didn’t realize his statement was considered anti-Semitic until during a mediation session with Adidas before they ended their business relationship with him.
He also said these conversations during mediation helped him reach some realizations, which “humbled” him. During an interview with Piers Morgan earlier this month, West offered a semi-apology for his anti-Semitic remarks. In a preview clip of the interview, Morgan confronts West about his controversial remarks, prompting the rapper to deny being racist.
When asked if he regretted tweeting “the death of three Jews,” West said, “No… Absolutely not.” During another part of the interview, the “Praise God” rapper said,
“I will apologize to the people I hurt with Defcon [comment], the confusion I caused. I think I caused hurt and confusion. And I’m sorry for the families of people who had nothing to do with the trauma I experienced.”

As West apologized for his controversial remarks, Floyd’s family has announced they are filing a $250 million lawsuit against West for his remarks about Floyd’s death. Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd’s only daughter, Gianna Floyd, is suing the rapper for “harassment, defamation, defamation and infliction of emotional distress seeking $250 million dollars in damages.”
A statement from Washington’s attorney also read, “Kanye’s comments are a disgusting attempt to diminish George Floyd’s life and profit from his inhumane death. We will hold Mr. West accountable for his blatant statements against Mr. Floyd’s legacy.” They have also issued a cease and desist letter to rapper “Goldigger” for his comments.

West’s controversial position has earned him many business partnerships, including talent agency CAA, fashion brand Balenciaga, Vogue and its editor Anna Wintour, and bank JPMorgan Chase. The biggest loss so far has been his partnership with Adidas, who eventually succumbed to strong pressure to end their partnership with the Yeezy founder.
Adidas released a statement confirming the termination of its partnership with West. It read, “After a thorough review, the company has decided to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy-branded products, and stop all payments to Ye and his company. Adidas will discontinue the Adidas Yeezy business effective immediately.”
As a result of losing his partnership with Adidas, the rapper’s net worth dropped from an estimated $1.9 billion to around $400 million. The loss immediately removed him from the Forbes list of billionaires. West’s new net worth stems from his extensive music catalog, liquid cash, real estate and a 5% stake in former Kim Kardashian’s Skims brand.
