Controversial rapper Kanye West has introduced a new shoe for his Yeezy brand called Yeezy Pods.
The former billionaire and fashion mogul previously informed fans that the socks would be available soon and called them “the future of foldable shoes.” Since the shoe’s unveiling, fans have slammed the $200 price tag, saying it’s too expensive for the average shopper.
West recently made headlines for issuing an apology to Jews for anti-Semitic remarks he made over the past few years.

Taking to Instagram, West announced that his new sneaker innovation, called Yeezy Pods, is now available for pre-order. The fashion mogul shared the news via a short animated video on Instagram, showcasing how the individual pieces can be transformed into a compact, storable format and then folded into a wearable form.
The shoe is reminiscent of black knee-high socks with a slim sole for added protection. Individuals interested in acquiring a pair can choose from three available sizes (1, 2, and 3) for $200.
In recent months, the Yeezy Pod has become a personal favorite for West. He has been seen adorning his feet with the shoes during casual outings and also on his recent international trip with his wife, Bianca Censori. Whether this is the only iteration or just the first drop remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: West’s latest creation is taking center stage.
Fans Say Yeezy Pods Are Too Expensive
The unveiling of the shoe comes after the rapper announced the debut date and described the item as “the future of foldable shoes.”
Both then and now, social media users slammed the price of the shoe as too expensive for the average shopper.
A user X said, “Who pays $185 for a pair of socks, lol?” while another commented, “$200 for some tall socks?”
The second person said, “Yeah, you want us to pay $200 for some compression socks!” while a third said, “Kanye, I am NOT buying 200 dollar socks.”
However, amid the negative remarks, some fans supported the creativity behind the Yeezy Pods.
One fan said, “Okay…Better this in your wallet than the struggle some people have from the concert to the car. It’s an investment, lol. I saw the vision!”
Another commented, “This is actually great for women who wear high heels and then their feet start to hurt and you [are] walking around barefoot.”

The new shoes are the first products the rapper has introduced on the Yeezy brand since he parted ways with Addidas due to backlash over his antisemitic remarks last year. Fans may recall that comedian “Donda” came under fire for posting about “Death Con 3 on Jewish People.”
Shortly after the statement made headlines, Addidas released a statement terminating their long-term deal with the rapper.
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other form of hate speech,” the shoe company said in the statement, per Page Six. “Ye’s recent comments and actions are unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
In addition, the rapper also lost deals with Gap and Balenciaga, whose losses amounted to millions of dollars.

In the months that followed since being ostracized by many of his colleagues, West continued to subtly provoke the Jewish community with several social media posts and his comments in interviews.
However, he recently made a U-turn by issuing an apology statement on his Instagram page that appeared to be written in Hebrew.
In his apology, West said it was not his “intention to hurt or disrespect” the Jewish community with his “unplanned outburst” and that he “deeply regrets any pain” his actions caused.
He added, “I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.”

Following his apology, the Jewish organization, the Anti-Defamation League, issued a statement, stating that West’s apology was a step in the right direction.
They said, “Having caused untold damage by using his vast influence and platform to poison countless minds with vicious antisemitism and hatred, an apology in Hebrew may be the first step in a long journey to atone for the Jewish community and all the person he has hurt. In the end, actions will speak louder than words but this early act of regret is welcome.”
