West also recently spoke about George Floyd, the man whose controversial death spurred the Black Lives Matter movement. During the “Drink Champs” interview, the “Stronger” rapper claimed that Floyd really died of a fentanyl overdose and was not killed by former police officer Derek Chauvin, who was convicted and sentenced to 21 years in prison.
Because of his statement, Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd’s daughter, Gianna, has filed a $250 million lawsuit against West. He filed on behalf of Gianna, who is still a minor and the sole beneficiary of Floyd’s estate. Washington retained two attorneys, Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law, to file the lawsuit against West.
In the official press release per Radarlawyers announced the suit and wrote that West will answer for his “false statements regarding the death of George Floyd,” which he made to “promote his brand, and increase marketing value and revenue for himself, his business partners and his associates.”
