According to an announcement by Kensington Palace on Wednesday, the Princess of Wales underwent “planned abdominal surgery” at a London clinic on Tuesday.
The operation has now left Kate hospitalized as she recovers. The princess will also not be able to carry out her royal duties until after Easter.
A statement from the palace read, “The surgery was successful, and it is expected that he will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue his recovery. Based on current medical advice, he is unlikely to return to public duty until after Easter.”
It continued, “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality as possible for her children; and her desire for her personal medical information to remain private. Therefore, Kensington Palace will only provide information updates on His Royal Highness’s progress when there is important new information to share.”
