David Foster and his wife Katharine McPhee have opened up about the possibility of their son Rennie following in their musical footsteps and even choosing it as a career.
The couple welcomed little Rennie in February 2021, and he is nothing but a source of joy for them. However, given the background of his parents, many wondered if the little boy had music running through his veins.
Foster and McPhee have made quite a name for themselves. The Canadian musician has won over 14 Grammy awards and earned 47 nominations, while McPhee is a talented singer and songwriter.
It is also interesting to note that the couple met on the set of “American Idol” in 2006 when Foster appeared as a guest mentor and his wife became the runner-up to the winner Taylor Hicks. They, however, were not romantically linked until 2017.

The proud parents, during a recent interview, spilled the tea and informed the public about their son’s musical growth.
The doting mom recently took to her Instagram story to share a cute video of her son having a bonding session with his drum. Responding to the subject of a possible career in music for Rennie, Foster said, “You know, when you look at someone like Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, their kids are very talented… but they’re not tennis players, so we don’t know . He is very young”
Taking over the reins from her husband, the “Scorpion” actress added, “It makes sense that he’s going to be musical, but we’re not sure.” He, however, insisted, saying, “He’s definitely obsessed with drums! Or imaginary drums, for that matter.”
The celebrity couple also touched on the holidays, as this Christmas will be the first where their baby boy gets to experience and enjoy the spectacle and pomp that comes with the celebration, given that he is one.
The “Best Of Me” singer said, “This is going to be the first year we’re going to experience it, and it’s going to be incredible,” to which the “Smash” actress added, “I mean, she won’t know what it is until next year, but it will be interesting for him.”
As for the question of having another child, the couple admitted that they are not sure about their plans on the topic.

The proud mum loves to show off her little one’s impressive talents, and that was the case earlier this month when she gave her fans a glimpse of Rennie’s love for his drums.
According to The Blast, McPhee shared with his fans via Instagram a video of his son having fun hitting his drums while in his father’s studio.
Capturing the moment in her video, she wrote, “Then I picked up Rennie, and we went to see our main squeeze @davidfoster back in the studio… and Rennie was still banging the drums.🤣😩 all the time.”
In the short clip, little Rennie can be seen having the time of his life as he focuses on honing his drumming skills ignoring the adults at work. The video also features the “Wildflower” musician and his friends working their magic in the recording studio. However, the focus remained on the little one when his amused mother focused on recording the funny scene.

When Rennie isn’t playing his drums, he keeps busy with another fun sport, proving he can thrive anywhere.

Back in July, McPhee revealed that his son had excelled in sports recently. The actress took to her Instagram story to share a photo of herself and her son enjoying the summer on the golf course.
The photo shows the one-year-old looking down at the golf hole while holding a flagpole above it. Captioning the image, the sweet mom wrote, “Start them young.”
The “Shark Night 3D” actor had the soon-to-be golf fan wearing a white and black crew neck shirt with gray Mickey Mouse shorts and white sneakers for the occasion.
