The 62-year-old shared that his case has been described as “extreme” by medical professionals, saying, “This is going to sound like, whatever, you can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD.”

“They call it an extreme case,” he added. According to the UK’s National Health Service, PTSD can cause symptoms such as involuntary and vivid reliving of traumatic events, difficulty managing emotions and challenges in relationships. In the caption of the video, Griffin wrote that despite having the tools to cope, her experience with complex PTSD was incredibly intense and unlike anything she had ever faced.

In the clip, the actor and comedian reached out to his followers for coping tips, especially those who also struggle with depression and anxiety, before mentioning that his journey with complex PTSD began about five and a half years ago.

The actor shared the details of the cancer in his post, writing, “I have to tell you guys something. I have cancer, and I’m going to have surgery to remove half of my left lung.” He continued, “Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!”
