The opinionated personality is no stranger to sharing his unfiltered opinion on topics that others consider sensitive. Although her statement is often considered controversial, the 62-year-old woman won hearts with her applause back at the “Vogue” singer’s critics.
Following the revelation of the seven-time Grammy winner’s health issues, there were insensitive comments about the performer’s condition. The “My Life on the D-List” star addressed this unsolicited opinion of the Pop legend in a powerful message.
Kathy Griffin Claims People’s Jokes About Madonna Are Driven By Ageism & Misogyny
In his latest Instagram update, the Oak Park native reshared a TikTok video he posted recently. The clip, titled “Just a few words about #Madonna,” captures the comedian’s take on the nasty reaction to the singer’s illness.
Filming herself at home in what appeared to be her pajamas, the Primetime Emmy Award winner explained that she wanted to support the “Material Girl” songstress despite not having a relationship with the 64-year-old.
“I don’t know what’s going on with Madonna, I don’t know, but I love her and want to defend her,” the comedian began. “I have never met him. Of course, I’ve seen him in concert because I’m a gay man, and I think he’s provided the world with decades of music and entertainment.”
The ginger-haired entertainer expressed her displeasure at inappropriate comments about the cultural icon, noting people took her condition as a joke. The 62-year-old said: “I don’t like how people seem to pile on and make fun of him being sick or collapsing, and he’s going to be fine. We don’t know anything yet.”
Putting herself in the shoes of the “4 Minutes” singer, the Oak Park native claims the hatred toward Madonna stems from people’s opinions of her age and gender, treatment she is familiar with. In the words of the GLAAD Media Award recipient:
“I’ll be honest; I think most of it is a factor of age and misogyny. Sorry, but you know, as a 62-year-old chick, I deal with him all the time, and he freaks Madonna out!”
Addressing comments about the “Hung Up” artist’s beauty enhancement, Griffin stated that the public’s focus should be on the restoration of the blonde beauty. The comedian said, “So I don’t care about the filler; they will leave if he feels it. I am concerned about his health.”
“And I’m glad he can come back on this tour, and the tour is a greatest hits, and he should be great,” the Oak Park native concluded his post with a bright smile. As mentioned above, fans responded positively to his message, echoing the same sentiment in the comments.
