Television
In 2015, Kavita made her television debut with the serial Dosti… Yaariyan… Manmarziyan where she played the role of Piyali. He appeared in various other TV shows such as Beyhadh (2016), KumKum Bhagya (2018), Ishq Aaj Kal (2019), Kartik Purnima (2020), and Avrodh: The Siege Within (2020). In an interview, she talked about her acting career and said,
Oh! This is still very new to me. I started acting about five years ago. I am an ordinary mother living in Delhi taking care of three children, in-laws and my husband, going to many cat parties like other Delhi women. Acting is just by chance. So someone saw my eldest son at a wedding and the writers and production team of the television series Manmarziyan were discussing new faces for the show. When Orvana’s name was chosen for the second lead of the show, writer Durjoy Datta, who is also a family friend, along with his team randomly said that ‘Uski mom ko bhi check kar lena. He doesn’t look so bad’. So it was like that.

Movie
In 2018, Kavita made her film debut with the film Veere Di Wedding where she played the role of Ritu Puri. Later, he appeared in many films like Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Love Aaj Kal (2020). In an interview, Kavita talked about her role in the movie Love Aaj Kal (2020) and said,
I am very happy that I wrote the role of a mother in two places simultaneously. One thing to note is that I play Kartik’s mother in both places, Kartik’s mother Aaryan in the film’Love Aaj Kal‘ and Harsh Nagar’s mother in our new show ‘Kartik Purnima’. I am really happy that the film and the show are doing well.”
Make-up artist
Before venturing into acting, Kavita worked as a make-up artist in New Delhi. She owns a beauty salon in New Delhi. Kavita, since childhood, wanted to be a makeup artist. In an interview, recalling her childhood memories, Kavita said,
I remember when I was 14 or 15, I would tear out Rekha Ji’s pages from magazines and stick them on the mirror and try to copy all the great makeup she wore. So it feels like, I almost learned all my makeup from her.”

One day when I was coming home from a cat party, my daughter slipped the script into my hand and told me it was for me which I obviously laughed at. So after a week of coaxing and convincing, I finally taped my audition and handed it to my daughter.”
