Keke Palmer is finally addressing her troubled relationship with ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson!
Palmer and Jackson’s relationship took a turn for the worse earlier this month when she filed for sole custody of their son and got a temporary restraining order against him on domestic violence grounds.
Now, the “True Jackson VP” alum is speaking out, admitting the alleged abusive relationship was a “rude awakening” for her.

The talented star bared her heart on the latest episode of her podcast, “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” featuring her mom Sharon Palmer and therapist Dr. Drew Pinksy.

Palmer begins the episode titled “How to Cope with Abusive, Borderline and Narcissistic Relationships,” chatting with her mother about how her parents’ healthy marriage tricked her into thinking that’s how every relationship is regardless of compatibility.
“I think I’m very naive because my father is great and my uncle is great,” he explained. “So the misogyny came at me hard and fast, with speed. I grew up in a house where my mother would say, ‘This is the way it should be.’ And Larry [her dad] would be like, ‘Okay, Sharon. Go ahead, Sharon.”
However, that was not the case when he ventured into his own relationship. “So, for me, when I go outside my house and I see that everybody doesn’t really respect their wives or women the way my father respects my mother, it’s a bit of a rude awakening,” the 30-year-old said. – old revealed.
Palmer later discussed with Dr. Pinsky topics such as narcissism, gaslighting, and setting boundaries, before admitting that he had a “boundary problem.”
The “Nope” actress, who has split from Jackson, stated that she chooses happiness over any trauma that may have occurred during the relationship. “At that point, it was just like, I chose happiness and I chose joy, and I didn’t choose to go back there,” she said. “And like you said, as time goes on, I’m like, I’m good. Anyway, I’m fine.”
Recall that in early November, Palmer shocked fans when she filed a domestic violence restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, accusing him of physically, verbally and emotionally abusing her.
In court documents obtained by us, the former Nickelodeon child star accuses her former personal trainer of “beating her” and “throwing her on the couch,” adding that there were “multiple incidents of physical violence, including hitting and grabbing me around the neck.”

In the filing Palmer alleges Jackson destroyed “her personal property, including my diary and prescription glasses, threw my belongings in the street, threw away my car keys to prevent me from driving, hit me in front of our son, spewed obscenities about me to our son, threatening to kill himself with a gun if I left him, harassment, and other physical and emotional abuse.”
She documented several instances of abuse including when he allegedly broke into her home and assaulted her when she tried to call the authorities.
“On Sunday, November 5, Darius broke into my house, physically assaulted me, pushed me on the couch and pinned me down, and stole my phone after I threatened to call the police. The police were called and arrived before Darius left. After interviewing me, my sister, and Darius, they told him to leave and warned him not to come back. They also encouraged me to file for a domestic violence restraining order,” she wrote.
The Emmy Award winner claims the abuse almost extended to their 8-month-old son, Leo. “On September 26, 2023, I was worried about Leo’s safety after Darius became very upset with him when Leo cried while Darius was changing his diaper. Darius started being physically abusive to Leo and I stepped in to make sure Darius wasn’t going to hurt him,” Palmer said.
He continued, “Darius was angry and almost had a tug of war with Leo. Darius finally let go and Leo was unharmed, but as I was holding Leo trying to calm him down and finish changing his diaper, Darius hit me on the head before storming out of the room.”

Palmer explained that her son was the reason she decided to seek help, writing, “Because of our son, Leo, I was finally able to end my relationship with Darius once and for all and be free of abuse. Leo is the most important thing in the whole world to me; he needs and deserves to be safe and grow up in an environment free from violence.”
Palmer was granted a temporary restraining order against Jackson and also granted temporary sole custody of their child until a hearing on December 5. The “Hustlers” star has been living her life despite hosting the 2023 Soul Train Awards over the weekend.
