Keke Palmer recently took to social media to share an unfortunate incident she encountered at an airport in Houston, which she described as “breast milk discrimination.” The actress, who became a mother in February after welcoming her son Leodis, revealed her disappointment and stated that the experience was “devastating [her] mood.”

Palmer, 29, expressed her frustration by tweeting, “I should have let go of my breasts then because the wisdom and comfort of pumping was thwarted by the threat of throwing away over 16oz. [of] my baby [sic] food?!?!! He added, “Why is that not a crime?? I AM MOTHER for crying out loud.”
According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), breast milk “in quantities exceeding 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters is permitted in carry-on luggage”, but anything over that limit must undergo separate screening.

Other people chime in, “It is a crime. They should not throw away food related to the baby. During the formula crisis, I visited a friend in the VA and found a box of ready-made formula that my cousin needed for her daughter. I was able to get it through TSA without any problems. Houston airport is breaking the law.”

Others shared their unsettling airport encounters with one said, “I used to work for a major airline, and I am a mother of 3, it is STRICTLY ILLEGAL for them to handle or dispose of breast milk (including ice packs to keep it preserved). Baby food and formula may exceed the standard ounce restriction. TSA and airlines know better.”
“JFK airport cut the wire on my pump when it went through baggage check a few years ago. Left a sticker on the suitcase indicating that my bag had been hand searched. Do they know how much the pump costs?” a fan add.

Palmer emphasized the importance of individual choice and self-care, saying, “There’s always this thing, ‘How did they do it?’ And I think for me, the main thing I would say to any new mom is do what you can when you can, whatever makes you feel good.
She continued, “If it’s important to you, then do the work miss girl. Get you whatever diet you want to do or whatever exercise regimen works for you. And if that’s not what you’re worried about, then don’t worry.” He concluded that the most important thing is that each individual does what they consider necessary to “feel good.”
