Keke Palmer recently took to social media to share an unfortunate incident she encountered at an airport in Houston, which she described as “breast milk discrimination.” The actress, who became a mother in February after welcoming her son Leodis, revealed her disappointment and stated that the experience was “devastating [her] mood.”

Breastfeeding discrimination at the Houston airport ruined my mood. I should have removed my nipples then because the wisdom and comfort of pumping was thwarted by the threat of throwing away over 16oz of my baby food?!?!!! Why is that not a crime??

Palmer, 29, expressed her frustration by tweeting, “I should have let go of my breasts then because the wisdom and comfort of pumping was thwarted by the threat of throwing away over 16oz. [of] my baby [sic] food?!?!! He added, “Why is that not a crime?? I AM MOTHER for crying out loud.”

According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), breast milk “in quantities exceeding 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters is permitted in carry-on luggage”, but anything over that limit must undergo separate screening.

Others shared their unsettling airport encounters with one said, “I used to work for a major airline, and I am a mother of 3, it is STRICTLY ILLEGAL for them to handle or dispose of breast milk (including ice packs to keep it preserved). Baby food and formula may exceed the standard ounce restriction. TSA and airlines know better.”
