The year is off to a good start for Keke Palmer, ‘if she does say so herself,’ after a tumultuous last quarter of 2023.
The actress, currently living her best life on vacation, is embroiled in a domestic violence case and custody battle with ex-boyfriend and baby daddy Darius Jackson after she served him with a restraining order in November.
Keke Palmer Is Keeping It Cool For The New Year
Palmer shared a major life update on her socials to ring in the new year while swimming in the clear blue waters.
The actress, who wore a black halter neck top paired with hoop earrings and a silver necklace, smiled as she played with a stingray in the short clip. He expressed his gratitude and optimism for the new year in the accompanying caption, writing:
“Wow Chile! These mosquitoes have disappeared with my eyes, I feel like I’m in that episode of Martin. I have never been so happy in my life!! Already 2024 started with the atmosphere I was looking for, more experiences and more enjoyment of what this beautiful world has to offer. Look at my smile! I don’t even know me! I’m in a second relationship with this girl here, I’m at clouuuuuud nine!”
Her fans quickly flocked to her Instagram comments section to pour out the love and encouragement she needed to get through this phase of her life.
One commenter continued to ask for compliments, writing, “Your skin looks so radiant… Come visit us here in Antigua and Barbuda, we have 365 beaches for you to enjoy,” while another added, “Happy face!”
This fan acknowledged Palmer’s truly iconic status when they wrote: “She’s going to tell the whole reef ‘you’ll never guess who I just met!'” Another fan warned the stingray not to hurt Ms Palmer, writing , “The stingray knows we don’t play with him. He’ll be fine.”
The year that just ended ended on a pretty dramatic note for the singer after Jackson defied his initial restraining order and granted him a new one. The Blast found that the fitness instructor accused Palmer of being the main aggressor in the relationship and that he engaged in “abusive behavior throughout their two-and-a-half-year relationship.”
Jackson didn’t stop there. She went on to request a modification to their existing custody arrangement by asking for joint custody in the “best interests of their son”, adding that:
“I am requesting a court order for joint legal and physical custody. (Keke) refused to allow me to see Leodis since getting a temporary restraining order. My offer to monitor visits was declined, and he has unilaterally removed any and all access.”
Jackson continued that Palmer had subjected her to physical and verbal abuse and that he had punched, choked and hit her several times on specific dates stated in the filing document.
She claims Palmer punched her in the face at a birthday party and violently grabbed her arm from leaving her home two months after the birthday incident. Palmer also allegedly harassed Jackson with more than 200 phone calls and 50 emails after he told her he would not be spending the night at her residence on November 17, 2021.
The ‘Nope’ Actor’s Life Has Changed Since Domestic Violence News broke
Despite the overwhelming support Palmer has received from the public since the news went viral, the actor admits his life has changed drastically. The mother of one walks fans through her struggles adjusting to her new reality in an Instagram clip accompanied by the caption:
“When reality tv makes everyone believe that all celebrity life is just one big strategy and marketing scheme but my life has completely unraveled and I’m just traumatized like a dolce gabana coat because Sharon doesn’t give a damn.”
The Blast shared that the post was received with endorsements from prominent figures in the industry including SZA and Teyana Taylor.
Before the broadcast, the 30-year-old admitted on his podcast “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” with his mother, Sharon Palmer, and therapist, Dr. Drew Pinsky, that his naivety contributed to the breakdown of his relationship with Jackson.
Palmer also admits to having trouble establishing boundaries, but overall, has chosen to remain happy rather than sulk over her ordeal in the abusive relationship.
