Clarkson put her own spin on Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever” which was released last year and became the title track for her second album.

“That song I’m sure means a lot of different things to him,” Clarkson said, of “Happier Than Ever,” “And that’s his world and why he wrote it. But the domino effect he unleashed and how it affected so many other people, because that’s a song -songs when you’re really honest and you’re angry and you’re sad and you’re hurt,” he added. “And all those things, those similarities make for the best songs. So I’m just navigating what I’m comfortable putting out,” Clarkson concluded.

“Happier Than Ever” isn’t the only song that inspired the beauty of “Breakaway”. She released a cover EP ‘Kellyoke’ earlier this summer, which included covers from bands such as Radiohead and legendary seventies songstress Linda Ronstadt. (via Today).

Clarkson And Parton ‘Team Up’ For A New Spin On This Classic Song!

Clarkson’s tribute to Parton won’t be the last time she’ll pay tribute to Parton’s legacy this year!

The duo will release a duet of Parton’s 1980 hit “9 To 5” on September 9. Clarkson shared an announcement post earlier today on Instagram, revealing fans can pre-save the song now.

Country singer and producer Shane McAnally, (who Clarkson thanked in her post), also shared the announcement on his Instagram and revealed some information about how the collaboration came about!

“A few years ago, my friends Gary & Larry contacted me about a documentary they were making about 40 years since the movie ‘9 to 5’ came out, and its impact on women’s rights,” McAnally wrote, “There was an idea to re-imagine the song ‘ 9 to 5’ and they asked if I’d be interested in working on it. I’d worked with Dolly Parton on ‘Forever Country’ and the possibility of working with her again seemed too good to be true…” she explained.

Parton’s reaction to her re-imagining of the classic song was so positive, that she even recruited one of her fellow superstars to join the experience!

McAnally continued by detailing “Little did we know Dolly would love it so much that she would not only sing on it, she would ask Kelly Clarkson to sing on it too. I don’t need to tell anyone how deep my love for Kelly goes. She is not only the best singer that I’ve ever worked with or known, he’s one of the best.”
