The bold-voiced singer shared on her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, that her 8-year-old daughter River Rose is having a hard time at school. His peers bully him because he has dyslexia.
Her guest Henry Winkler was there to lend an ear for her to share her story; he also battles dyslexia. “I was driving my daughter to school yesterday, and she’s dyslexic,” Clarkson said. “You’ve told me that you’re also dyslexic – I think it’s amazing to tell my daughter that you’ve written, like, 40 books, and you have dyslexia,” she said in awe.
Clarkson later revealed that River was “bullied” because of her battle with a learning disability. The proud mama had to pause and reach for a Kleenex to wipe away the tears. The children in his class noticed his “reading disability” at the same rate.

The actress looked directly into the camera and gave River more encouragement. “River! The way you study has nothing to do with your brilliance.” Yes, period! Clarkson couldn’t agree more, and the tears streaming down her face showed it.
He said he “didn’t know how common” dyslexia was among minors. Clarkson joked to lighten the mood, “My makeup artist is going to kill me.”
