Both women worked with the late, great Regis Philbin on ‘Live.’

Gifford co-hosted with Philbin for 15 years while Ripa co-hosted with the TV legend from 2001 to 2011.

Philbin died at the age of 88 in 2020.

Ripa wrote about her not-so-good relationship with Philbin in the book.

He revealed in the book that there was a power struggle between the two and said they were not very close in real life.

“My name has to be smaller than Regis’s on ‘Live!’ title card and branding. An inch game, which speaks for itself. But on that we agree. After all, seniority,” he wrote in the book.

Gifford told Fox 5’s Rosanna Scotto, “I’m very sorry to see the headlines. You know, you never know what’s true and what’s not. I went, ‘I hope this isn’t true. I just hope it doesn’t. Because what’s the point? I do not understand. I do not understand.”

When asked about Gifford’s remarks on the podcast, Ripa responded, “I didn’t see the interview, so I tend to, like, not dive deep into things that I can’t comment on because I haven’t seen it. And then I wrote this whole chapter, [which] is about correcting the record in real time. Did you do it? Should someone do it?”

He went on to explain, “Theoretically, should someone correct the record in real time or should they not comment on it? Because here’s the thing, it’s like I’m talking to people who read the book. I know writing a book will open me up to all kinds of criticism, right? ?But people who read the book have a very different view of the chapter because they read the book.”

The “All My Children” alum admits she’s “a big free speech person,” and believes everyone should “be able to speak” if they feel the need to.

“You don’t have to read every book. No one needs to read every book on Earth,” he continued. “The comments I got about the chapters were very positive and people who read the book took a lot of positive things away from it. It’s ironic that it’s the chapter where I talk about, ‘What do I do in this situation?’ Am I advancing the media narrative with clickbait and all that stuff? Or should I just leave it?”

Ripa expressed her gratitude for the buzz surrounding the book, both good and bad.

“It’s really hard to sell books, isn’t it? And this is like, the third week of the book, right? And I mean, honestly, I’m not going to lie, I didn’t read any headlines anywhere. And suddenly all these titles came out and there was all this attention on my book,” said Ripa. “So, I am someone who tends to take negative things and turn them into positives. So my main comment is, thank you.”

His book has been turned on The New York Times Best Seller list for two weeks.

“It’s like, thank you, because I think people who read the book will have a very different view of the book,” he added.

Regarding Gifford’s comments, Ripa said, “I think anyone who reads the book will have a different view.”
