Kevin Costner’s divorce from Christine Baumgartner has taken another dramatic turn.
Despite having a marriage that lasted nearly a decade, things have been pretty sour between the superstar actor and his now estranged wife since he filed for divorce in May. Not only did the “Yellowstone” actress claim that Baumgartner made her homeless by refusing to leave the home they once shared, but she claimed that most of her ex’s expenses went to his benefits rather than the needs of their three children.
Kevin Costner’s Legal Team Accuses Christine Baumgartner of Deliberately Delaying Their Divorce Process
In the latest round of drama between Costner and Baumgartner, the actor has accused his ex-wife of deliberately trying to prolong their already tense divorce proceedings.
According to new court documents, the 68-year-old’s legal team slammed the American-German beauty’s claim that she did not understand the terms of their prenuptial agreement when she signed it. Calling it “gameplay at its worst,” a legal representative wrote:
“Christine has avoided responding to numerous Requests for Access (‘RFAs’) based on claims that the common words used, words like ‘understand’ and ‘negotiations’ are too vague.”

As far as they’re concerned, the 49-year-old “can’t acknowledge or deny the RFA because he doesn’t understand the word ‘understand.'” In a filing from early July, the “Dances with Wolves” star cited a prenuptial agreement. signed off on their marriage in 2014.
It stipulated that in the event of a divorce, Baumgartner would vacate any separate property family residence within 30 days of the filing of the divorce petition, giving the father of seven exclusive use of his individual property residence.
In her response, Baumgartner conveyed her reluctance to leave the property unless her ex-husband agreed to her request for $248,000 a month in child support. Although he had already moved out of the Santa Barbara property, the situation arose when he was ordered to vacate the residence on July 31.
In the end, the “Let Him Go” actor expressed his willingness to provide $51,940 a month in child support. However, a judge ruled that he must pay $129,000 a month in child support in the interim, pending a hearing in November to further address the matter.
Although Costner’s legal representatives insist that he has been proactive in moving their divorce proceedings forward, they claim that Baumgartner has consistently obstructed the process by using various obstacles in an “unreasonable” attempt to “avoid answering this discovery.”
The document adds that the handbag designer’s “refusal to respond to this RFA is merely a stalling tactic designed to avoid an admission that the parties did not enter into any transmutation agreement.”
In case you missed it, the mother of three previously responded to the Academy Award winner’s emergency court filing to prevent him from taking items from their former home. In legal papers obtained by The Blast, Baumgartner insisted that he only wanted to take some personal items from the beachfront estate, including exercise equipment.

“There is no mystery about what I plan to eliminate. Kevin will not be harmed by me removing any of the items I have listed, and certainly not personal items such as my peloton bike and family heirlooms,” he wrote for it.
‘Primetime Live’ Star Moves Out of Ex-Partner’s House Ahead of July 31st Deadline
When Baumgartner finally moved out of Costner’s home last month, several outlets obtained photos showing a moving truck leaving the $145 million property she and her three children shared with the actor during their 18-year marriage. As The Blast later reported, an insider also confirmed that he had indeed moved on, stating:
“Christine followed legal advice following the prenup and vacating the family home. [She] will live in a smaller house on a property that has been used as staff quarters.”
Speaking further on the situation, the source declared that it was a “temporary solution” for Baumgartner, who is still looking for another home. As it turned out, he had decided to stay in the Santa Barbara area so as not to “disrupt the kids’ lives” because they would be “going back to school in the fall with their friends.”
“Christine tries to keep everything as normal as possible. The sole focus is the children,” explained the source again.
